Chapter 4: Under the night sky

"Now it's getting late and I assume you've been travelling all day. So get some sleep and we'll continue this tomorrow and talk about who this him is" Phil said standing from his seat with Dream following him also standing up. "Alright I'll see you tomorrow then" Dream said as he moved towards the library's door.

"An I mean it Dream, get so sleep" Phil told Dream as he watched Dream open the library's door. "I'll try. Good night Phil, and thank you" Dream called over his shoulder as he left. Leaving Phil in the library on his own.

Once the door to the library once again closed Phil dropped back into his chair. 'Did I do the right thing?' Phil thought as he yawned, tiredness finally showing its self. 'Am I really going to let him stay and help? I mean if he does leave again it'll hurt them all because he came back' Phil thought frustrated as he rubbed his face.

'But then it could also give them the closure that they didn't get last time because of how abrupt it was. Letting Dream stay has a higher chance of him hurting them again, of hurting Techno again' as Phil thought he stood up once again and walked to the library door opening it and walking through it into the hall way. 'I'll just try to keep them away from Dream'

Finally arriving at his room Phil entered and began to get ready for bed. Before getting in. 'Keeping Techno and Dream apart will be the hardest but it seems possible. I mean Dream seems to know what where dealing with so all I have to do is keep Dream with me for plans and information and Techno can continue to command the soldiers, effectively keeping them apart most of the time' that was Phil's final thought before he drifted of to sleep.

Dream walked through the halls of the castle not knowing where to go. He didn't know if he could go to the room he used last time or if it was even still free. And it was too late go to Techno.

So silently Dream walked through the castle not making a sound, l just enjoying the peace and quiet that comes with the night. It's been awhile since he was last able to bathe in the silence and calm atmosphere that came with the dark starry sky with the moon being the man light source.

As Dream walked down the halls he looked out the windows staring at the night sky that was lit up by the moon that shone brighter then the last time he saw it.

Deciding where to go, Dream made his way to the castle garden him and Techno where they last together the day he died. Exiting the castle Dream was welcomed by the cold night breeze. The walk to the garden was longer than he remembered, but it could just be him. As Dream push open the gate entering the garden he smiled and walked over to the tree from last time laid down on the grass next to it staring at the night sky.

Dream laid there as he let his thoughts run wild. 'Should I have come back?' That was a stupid question to ask himself. 'Of course I should've come back. I can't just sit back and watch as they die when I could have done something. Stupid question' Dream remanded himself for asking himself such a stupid question.

'Maybe I should have kept my distance and just help from the shadows like I had for centuries before' Dream asked himself yet again questioning his decision to show himself. 'Though I don't think that would have worked for long. At some point I would have been seen and Techno would have known it was me. And that would have hurt him more. Me coming back and not telling him' Dream told himself as he crossed his arms behind his head them now acting as a pillow for his head to rest on.

Dreams thoughts continued along these lines and he was so deep in thought he didn't notice the approaching figure. The figure was actually Techno who for some reason he couldn't under stand felt a urge to come to the castle garden. And he came just to find Dream laying down on the grass staring at the starry night sky seemingly lost in thought.

Techno quietly approached Dream and laid next to him copying Dreams position. "It's a beautiful night isn't" Techno asked softly as he also looked up into the night sky that seem to be somewhat enchanting. "It is" Dream whispered back as they watched a shooting star cross the sky.

"You promised to come find me after you and Phil where done" Techno said not turning to look at Dream. "Sorry, it was late almost midnight and I didn't want to bother you" Dream apologise softly. "You wouldn't have bothered me Dream. You'd never bother me Dream" Techno told Dream as the continued to enjoy the calm night.

Dream ignore what Techno told him "it's late Tech, you should be sleeping" Dream said moving slightly trying to get more comfortable. "I could say the same to you Smiles" Techno replied.

"I'll be just fine. Worry about yourself Techno" Dream told Techno as the wind around them picked up slightly moving through the leaves making them sway in the wind. "Ah, see you said you'd be just fine but you should try being more than just fine. See that's why I can't stop worrying about you. You make sure everyone is safe and happy and in doing so you forget about who's most important, you" Techno lectured Dream.

Dream sighed thinking of his words carefully before responding. "If me being just fine saves life's then I'll be just fine, but if I start to look out for myself like your suggesting then more life's would be lost. So I'll be just fine till everyone's safe then I'll help myself" Dream told Techno softly.

"But you can't help anyone if your unable to help your self" Techno told Dream moving closer to Dream. "Fine, I give up, you win, you happy now?" Dream asked turning his head to look at Techno. "Very" was the reply the pink haired man gave.

Dream shivered slightly from the cold it became colder. Techno seeing this sat up before pulling Dream to him into his chest as he wrapped the end of his cloak around Dream and himself. Dream snuggled closer to Techno as he looked back up into the night sky. "Thanks for reminding me to take care of myself" Dream thanked Techno who burred his head into Dreams neck. "I'll alway be happy to remind you. And I'll remind you over and over again till it's drilled into you head" Techno told Dream keeping him close.

"I love you tech" Dream told Techno as he smiled content with the moment.

"And I love you smiles"
