Kaleah's POV...
I groaned inwardly when my cell phone and the doorbell rang at 4:30 a.m. "Hello," I speak into the phone while struggling to get out of bed.
"How are you feeling this morning?" Nico asked in a worried voice.
"Good." I lied while peeping through the security hole in the front door.
"Are you still in pain, Kaleah?"
"No." I lied again at the same time opening the front door to let Anna in.
"I'm glad that you're not walking pigeon-toed around here anymore." Anna blurts out as she follows me into the living room. Little did she know I was still feeling the effects of Nico's and my sex escapade from Saturday night. I was just forcing myself to walk normally in front of her because I was tired of her making fun of the way I walk.
"I'll be right back." I told Anna at the same time Nico asked, "do you need to take today off?"
I wanted to say heck yeah but replied, "no babe." I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that the result of the good loving he put on me still had me in a crippled state.
"Take today off, Kaleah, and that's not a request."
"Alright," I responded, knowing damn well I wasn't going to listen to him.
"If you show up at work today, I'm going to personally drive you back home."
"I'll call you back later," I utter after hearing a soft knock on my bedroom door.
"I'm not playing with you, Kaleah, stay at home today!" Nico says before ending the call.
"I'll be out in a second, Anna," I called out while searching through my closet for something comfortable to wear to work. I brushed my teeth, took a quick shower, and put on the new green Marc Jacobs blouse and black slacks I bought while out of town last Friday. After combing my hair, I applied a light coat of makeup to my face and fastened an orange and green necklace around my neck. I grabbed my orange high heels off the shoe rack at the foot of my bed and my orange Marc Jacobs purse off the purse stand by the closet door.
"I thought I was gonna have to come drag you out of the bathroom," Anna said to me as soon as I walked into the kitchen.
Ignoring her comment, I replied, "I hope that you cooked enough breakfast for me."
"I did, but considering how long it took you to get dressed, you won't have time to enjoy the scrumptious food I prepared," Anna utters, walking over to the trash bin with her half-empty plate in her hand.
"Then I'll just grab one of these delicious-looking homemade blueberry muffins and a steaming cup of coffee and eat it on the way to work," I replied, filling my thermal coffee cup up.
"You do know that eating one damn muffin and drinking a cup of coffee isn't a well-balanced breakfast, right?" Anna asked after we walked out of the front door.
"Yeah, I know..." I was saying this when I spotted Marcellus standing beside the passenger side door of Anna's car. I wasn't surprised to see him, in fact, I thought that I would have seen him before now.
