Kaleah's POV...
I woke up feeling exhausted from a restless night, spent in tears over my pregnancy and the impending conversation with Nico, and worried about how he'll take the news of me being pregnant with his child.
The idea of him and Sujin starting a family together was also weighing heavily on my mind, so much so that images of them playing the happy family even infiltrated my dreams. I let out a massive sigh as I scrambled to get out of bed. I slowly trudged to the bathroom to pee and take a shower.
Staring at my reflection in the mirror, I saw the physical evidence of my emotional turmoil—puffy eyes, disheveled hair, and an overall disarrayed appearance. I was a complete wreck.
“Time to get ready for work,” I mumbled to myself as I grabbed my toothbrush and coated it with toothpaste.
After brushing my teeth, I turned on the shower and entered my walk-in closet to select my attire for today. Opting for comfort instead of style, I chose a simple white blouse, a gray knee-length skirt, and white pumps.
I laid my clothes on the bed, reached into the top drawer for a pair of matching white undergarments, and then walked into the bathroom. My tears began to mingle with the water as reality hit me. “Dammit, I can't believe I'm about to be a single mother, somebody's baby mama. I can't believe I'm about to become the one thing that I promised myself would never allow that to happen,” I sobbed uncontrollably.
“What's done is done,” I muttered, just as my phone began to ring with Nico's familiar tone. Ignoring the call, I reminded myself that I would see him soon enough. As I submerged my face in the water, I attempted to wash away the memories of him and our time together. Those memories were only replaced with vivid images of Nico and Sujin parading their relationship in front of me at work.
The thought of Nico and Sujin sleeping together haunted me, causing a sharp ache in my chest and my tears to flow faster. His betrayal cut deeper than anything Marcellus could have ever done to me.
As the water chilled, I stepped out of the shower, dried off, and applied lotion to my skin. I dressed in my undergarments, pulled my hair into a neat ponytail, and left the bathroom.
After getting dressed and adding a hint of lip gloss to my lips, I gathered my essentials—purse, keys, and cell phone — and headed out the door. It didn't take long to reach my destination and find my parking spot. Sitting in the car, I took a few moments to mentally prepare myself to come face to face with Nico.
When I felt like I was ready to see him, I stepped out of the car and began walking towards the building with a confident stride, masking the inner turmoil threatening to consume me.
As I approached the entrance of the building, a sudden grip on my right arm stopped me in my tracks. Startled, I turned around, fully expecting to see Nico, only to find his cousin Il-sung holding on to me tightly. He stood there with a big smile on his face, with Rejun standing right behind him, eyeing me up and down hungrily.
“Ah, Just the woman I've been looking for,” Il-sung declared, his grip firm on my arm.
