Part 15

Yuu's POV

As soon as Inui and I were done, I rode over to Manjiro's. He was getting ready for an emergency Toman meeting, I figured, so I already had my uniform on.

We both look at each other as I open the door to his room but neither of us know what to say. I move first pulling him into my arms. "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever Ro even though it was literally just this morning."

All he does is hug me back. I know he's upset, I know he needs Shin right now. I try to pull up as many different memories of Shin as I can but I can't think of anything that would help in this situation, I speak anyway. "You remember that one day that the ac was broken and Shin brought us popsicles? We all ate them laying on the floor in the living room." He pulls back to look at me and nods.

"That was a good day. When it gets hot again we should eat popsicles with all our friends."

He smiles at me gently with love in his eyes. I lean on to my tip toes and kiss him sweetly. We just stay like that for awhile absorbing each other's presence. When we do break apart it's because we have to leave for the meeting. I ride with him on his bike and when we get there the air is heavy.

The meeting starts but we're still missing Hakkai, Smiley, and Mitsuya. I hear Kai's bike pull up and I watch as he walks to the front of the crowd, there is no other way to describe it other than he looks pissed, angrier than I've ever seen him before. When he reaches the front he speaks "On the way here Mitsuya, and Smiley got attacked!"

Shit.

"We were just sitting on our bikes when those Tenjiku motherfuckers came up from behind and hit them on the head with metal pipes. Now both of them are lying unconscious in the hospital. They will attack through any means so we have to do the same." The crowd starts murmuring.

He continues "At this rate Toman is going to lose, look around! We are beaten to shit and most of the captains are missing. We have to fight dirty back" the murmuring turns into shouts of agreement.

Peh revs his bike to get their attention, he looks angry too but then again he always looks like that "Shut the fuck up man. You're so scared of losing you thought of using weapons?? Pah got arrested for using weapons, in resentment I did the same to Draken. I played dirty. Mikey said he didn't want to fight the likes of me. That's why I'm here right now, so like Mikey was saying, I don't want to fight like a coward anymore. I get you're mad Hakkai, but look at Mikey, do you think he's okay with this?"

Sure enough Manjiro looks like he could murder someone. There is silence for a moment before Ro speaks "Hakkai stay beside Mitsuya." Before Kai can protest he says "It's not that I'm worried about him, I just know he would rush into battle as soon as he woke up, I can't move freely if he's there."

"Listen up everyone. We might only have two of our captains here, but I'm here so it'll be alright." He says it like a fact, sometimes it scares me how sure of himself he is, I worry that he puts on airs and says things with confidence so the people around him have no choice but to believe.

Everyone starts cheering.

We don't speak on the drive back, in fact we don't really speak when we get back to his house either, there is nothing to say, we both know how the other feels though he does ask me to go visit Shin's grave with him tomorrow, which of course I say yes to. It's late and we methodically take our baths before crawling into the warmth of each others arms in bed. Even though its only a few hours of sleep its better than nothing right?

When we get to Shin's graveyard there's a weird commotion happening inside. Inui has someone in a Tenjiku uniform by the shirt and Takemitchy is standing behind him. The guy has white hair and hanafuda earrings. "Yuu can you take Emma?" Ro asks but I was already ushering her away from the fight.
