Chapter 5: Confussion

I started to walk. As I walked, it was quite. Too quite. I live in Colorado and its not supposed to be quite. I looked at my surroundings. A couple of crashed cars, one one fire, an exploded fire hydrant, buildings set to flame, and a few trees that were snapped in half. I accidentally kicked something. It was just a backpack. Since I don't have anything to carry my stuff in, and there is no life anywhere, I'll take it.
"What the hell happened?" I said out loud. I honestly don't even know where I am for sure. I just kept walking. Suddenly the ground shook. I thought nothing of it because its Colorado and sometimes we get slight earthquakes. I just kept walking. Suddenly I felt it again. But this time it was stronger. I got a little worried. Out of nowhere I saw my house...but it was different. It was covered in ice but on fire. Like an ice dome.
Out of anger and confusion, I punched the thick ice. I stood there in shock. Not only because I felt no pain, but also because the whole dome just shattered in one punch. Something in my mind snapped. I was walking carelessly again. I don't know what came over me, but I went inside to my burning home and touched the flames. I felt nothing. My jaw dropped slightly and I tilted my head as I walked up the stairs. I touched the burning railing and slowly walked to my room. I don't know what is going on. Something in me made me lay down in my bed under the covers. As if it wasn't hot enough!
I was about to fall asleep when something jumped on me. I was scared and sat up. It was my cat Pazzo. I snapped back to reality. I grabbed the cat and the backpack and ran down the burning stairs. As we were almost out of the house, I heard one last sound. It was a crash and a boom. All was black and all was silent again.
