"Martha?" Martha turned in surprise as her name was called. She was so distracted by what was happening with Brandon that she didn't notice Mitchell straight away.

"Martha? Is that you?" Mitchell said again in surprise, walking towards her.

"Yep, it's me," She said with a small smile, trying to keep an eye on Brandon.

"You've not been around in Vegas, what are you doing here?" Mitchell said looking around to see what Martha kept staring at.

"I'm working with Brandon Flowers from The Killers and he invited me to this party," Martha explained, "I'm flying back to Vegas on Sunday, after spending some time in Scotland. What are you doing here yourself?" Martha asked, finally looking at Mitchell for longer than a second.

"I've been working on a case that's had me hopping from London to New York for a week or so and a few of us yanks were invited here tonight as a treat," Mitchell smiled widely, "I'm flying back to Vegas on Sunday morning, maybe we'll be on the same flight!"

"Maybe," Martha smiled thinly, hoping Mitchell was about to go back to his fellow yanks and leave her to stalk Brandon and his beautiful ex model girlfriend in peace.

"Is Brandon your date?" Mitchell asked, looking at Martha with mournful pale blue eyes.

"No!" Martha said a little louder than she had meant to, "We're just working together, that's all," Martha smiled sadly, because at this moment that was the truth, although she had been looking forward to the possibility of more than just business with Brandon since their almost kiss the night before.

"Maybe I could buy you a drink later?" Mitchell asked hopefully, "No pressure!" He said waving his hands dramatically.

"Sure," Martha said in the hope that he would disappear. Martha saw Brandon walking towards them, his face was like thunder, a scowl imprinted on his fore head.

"Great, I'll come and find you later," Mitchell said happily, as Martha just nodded.

"Who the fuck was that guy?" Brandon said angrily as he stepped up to the bar.

"A guy I know from Vegas," Martha said as she ventured forwards towards Brandon, "He's here on business and he came over to say hi," Martha said, feeling her affection for Brandon wash over her, as she saw how upset he was.

Brandon shrugged and ordered two double shots of whiskey from the bartender. Ronnie, Dave and Mark looked at each other with worried faces. Martha decided to stand as far away from Brandon as she could and took a place beside Mark, at the opposite side of The Killers from Him. She wanted to hide from his cold eyes, so she thought she would try make herself invisible.

Ronnie caught her eye and gave her a kind smile as he turned and spoke to Brandon, "What did Sophie have to say?"

"I don't really want to talk about it," Brandon said polishing off his second glass of liquor and gesturing to the bartender for service.

"Easy Brandon," Ronnie said with concern, "We've only just got here!"

"You know what she said?!" Brandon began, stopping to order more drinks, "She's not with that guy anymore, the one she cheated with. She said, 'Oh that was just a fling!' Just a fucking fling! She threw it all away for a fling! That's what she said, right to my face!" Brandon's voice was beginning to get louder.

"Calm down, I don't know why you went over anyway, all she does is piss you off," Ronnie said, starting to get annoyed.

"I know!" Brandon said, exasperated, "Then she says it's a shame I can't get past her!" Brandon's eyebrows nearly disappeared into his hairline.
