Martha's insides felt like a stretched rubber band. Here she was sitting in the honeymoon suite of the Bellagio hotel, wearing her pale lemon bridesmaid dress alongside her best friend Lauren the bride, Lauren's mum and two other bridesmaids. One of whom was the new girlfriend of Martha's ex husband Lee. The one who Martha caught having sex with her husband in her own bed. It was tense to say the least. Lauren had told Martha she would hardly see, her, at the wedding, and Martha had wanted to believe her, but they seemed to have spent every moment together, pretending not to know the other one existed, as if there was an invisible veil between them. Martha couldn't believe how different they were. Martha was small, shy and quiet, while she was tall and out there with a loud distinctive laugh. Martha thought that they could probably have been friends if she hadn't fucked Lee while he was still married to Martha.

Lauren's dad knocked on the door of the hotel suite, letting everyone know it was time to go. Everyone filtered out the door letting Lauren have a moment alone with her mum and dad. They appeared back in the hallway quickly and Martha was grateful for that, as she had already studied the hotel hall carpet enough.

They met the wedding coordinator just before the doorway of the wedding chapel. Martha could hear the voices of the people inside and she smiled at the thought of seeing Brandon in only a few moments, but then she remembered that Lee would also be there. She decided she was going to keep her mind and eyes on Brandon.

"Are you ready?" The wedding coordinator said looking at Martha.

"Yes," Martha said as the stretched band of her insides pinged as she realised she was first to walk down the aisle.

"Thank you," Lauren whispered with a smile. Martha smiled back and turned to stand in the doorway of the chapel. The Chaplin motioned to the organist to start and asked the congregation to stand. Martha felt herself begin to shake as everyone turned to look at her. The music began and Martha remembered her cue to go. She stepped forward searching the faces for Brandon.

Then she saw him.

His eyes were shining back at her, a smile fixed upon his lips. Martha gave him her biggest smile as she walked down towards him. He was right at the edge of the aisle and Martha let her fingers lightly catch at his as she moved past him and up to the front. She kept her eyes on him as she stood waiting. Martha heart fluttered when she saw Brandon turn away from the bridal party walking down the aisle to look at her, his eyes full of love.

Brandon and Martha kept their eye contact and little smiles going through the whole wedding ceremony. Martha felt the connection between them grow stronger as the wedding vows were exchanged. Martha felt them in her heart for Brandon.

As Lauren and Greg were declared husband and wife, everyone cheered and clapped. The bridal party piled out of the chapel, but Martha held back and waited as Brandon stepped out of the crowd.

"You look like an angel," Brandon said tenderly as he held her face in his hands and gently kissed her lips. Martha felt as if her heart was going to explode.

"You look devilishly handsome," Martha giggled fixing the already perfect lapels of his beautiful navy suit.

"Maybe you could show me the light?" Brandon said his eyes blazing, covering her bare shoulders with his large hands.

"You are so lucky you are a brunette!" Charles' voice spiked the air, "Because pale lemon is not easy to carry off!"

"But you manage it beautifully," Brandon said as they all joined the crowd heading into the reception room.

"Unlike someone else I won't mention," Martin whispered. Martha, Brandon and Charles all looked at Martin with raised eyebrows.

"I'm just saying!" Martin laughed.
