Eddie clutches his bag as he shuts the door of Steve's car. He waves as the burgundy vehicle drives away. As he walks to the door, he eyes his uncle's parked car. With caution, he pries open the door to the trailer and peeks in. The small TV is powered off and there is no one on the couch. Eddie takes this as an all clear and steps in. He passes the couch and makes way down the short, narrow hallway. He hold his breath as he nears his uncle's bedroom, just in case. When he makes it to his own room at the end of the hall, he exhales, and shuts the door.

Carefully removing the vinyl from it, he tosses the shopping bag on his bed. He removes the top from his record player, lifting the needle. He slips the vinyl out of the sleeve and places it on the player, replacing the needle. He presses play and it begins to spin. As the music flows through his room, he adjusts the volume and sits down on his bed.

He reaches for his walkman and his bag. From the bag he removes his new shirt, and a small handfull of stickers. Eddie sits on his bed, cross-legged, as he decides which stickers go where on his walkman. He wants to personalize it. he chooses four stickers out of the six. A Metallica logo, a swarm of bats, a character from DnD- Kas- and a train. He taps his foot slowly as he concetrates. One after the other, he sticks the stickers on different corners of the walkman. The song changes in the background, and he bops his head to the new beat.

He flips the walkman over, taking the final two and placing them on that surface.  Eddie always thought people who buy initial stickers were cheesy and stupid. So call him stupid, because he is now flattening an E and an S onto the plastic surface. He smiles. He tosses the backs of the stickers to the side and returns the walkman to his dresser.

When he sits back down on his bed, Eddie grabs a pillow and hugs it. He closes his eyes and focuses on the music playing around him. His body sways to the music. He thinks about Steve. Eddie had spent many nights like this, except he would be crying, convincing himself that Steve did deserve him. Now, he sits and thinks about how much he apreciates Steve.

There is a knock as the door, followed by a muffled voice. The door opens slowly, whilst Eddie's eye's fly open fast. His eyes meet his uncle's. Before he says a word, Wayne walks in and shuts the door behind him. Eddie can't help but inching backwards.

"Oh that brings me back, I remember this stuff." He tries to ease the tension, pointing to where the music was emitting. No tension was relieved. He notices the mix of fear and confusion on Eddie's face. "Listen, kid, I just want to talk to you." He leans against the dresser with his hand. Eddie swallows hard and nods hesitantly. Wayne inhales, looking for a safe way to word is thoughts.

"Look I- That night when I came home after," He motions for Eddie to finish his thought because he forgot the name.

"Steve?" Eddie spits out.

"Steve! That night that I came home after Steve left,  I was drunk. I didn't know what the best way to deal with that was okay? I should never have... hit you." Eddie scoffs. He definitely hit him. He hit him lots. But when he looks into his uncle's eyes, he can tell that the man is very serious.

"Eddie, I just want to apologize. A-and talk, to you." He looks hurt, and Eddie decides to give him a chance. He grips the pillow just a bit tighter.

"okay.." Neither of them knew how to proceed. "I shouldn't have said those things to you. And I shouldn't have raised my voice. You didn't- you don't deserve that." Eddie feels himself relaxing. "I am so sorry kid." Eddie tries to smile.

"I... I accept your apology, if you can promise to not slip up. Don't say the wrong things, or try."

I will. I'll try. But you and I, we grew up in different times, I need you to tell me what's wrong and right. My generation has completely disoriented my view on that sort of stuff." Eddie takes a large inhale.

"Well for starters, I'm gay. You need to keep things like gay, queer, homo, and the- the f slur out of your vocabulary. Anything like that. Those are the things that make people like me feel worthless." His uncle nods. He rubs his chin. Realization hit Eddie. He just came out to his uncle. And his uncle didn't do anything.

"Okay. Thanks for telling me this. And you will help me, develop, in the future?" Eddie nods.

"So, Steve?" Eddie puts his face in the pillow, smiling, blushing. His uncle chuckles. "You like this Steve?" Eddie nods. He looks back up at his uncle.

"Yeah, I really do." They smile at each other. Eddie could tell, that his uncle was trying hard already.

"So, what does that mean for you guys? Does he, you know?" Eddie lets out a small laugh.

"Steve likes me a lot, if that's what you mean. We're uh, we're dating. He's my boyfriend. Funny, you are the only one besides us that knows now."

"I'm honoured." His uncle smiles, genuinely.  "I'll let you be. Nice to hear you're listening to something new, something different." With that, he waves and exits. Eddie colapses backward onto his mattress. That was one of the few things that could happen to him that impacted him so well. Steve and him can just, hang out, at the trailer again.

He lies there content. If the world ended the next day, if he dies tommorow, he would be okay. He closes his eyes again. The music has re-entered his conciousness. He taps his foot to the slow beat of the song as the melody dances around his brain. He recognizes the song, and hums the chorus.

A/N hi im back and idk how record players work so

(also a comment on chapter 14 made me feel bad about making the uncle a bad guy so thats where this chapter was conceived)
