TW; slurs bc i forgot last time

Tuesday afternoon.

It's the end of lunch and Eddie is sitting alone at the table. The rest of the Hellfire Club had already packed up and left, leaving him to sit by himself. He doesn't mind. He sits back, observing the people around him.

The 'popular' table, slowly losing members as class comes closer. Four students sit there. Two guys, two girls. One of the girls is trying to flirt with one of the guys, but is failing miserably. The guy seems to be too stupid to notice.

Down the row of tables, the 'sporty' table. Three people remain seated. Jason, Jason's girlfriend Chrissy, and Patrick. Eddie recognizes Chrissy. She bought drugs from him, back when he was selling. She looks like she wants to be anywhere but there. she sees him looking, and gives him a small smile. He raises his eyebrow at her. Jason must notice because he looks at Eddie, fuming. Eddie winks at him.

When he checks the clock on the wall, realizes they all have five minutes to get to class. Shit, he thinks, the music room was all the way across the school. He gets up rather quick, and rushes out of the cafeteria. He doesn't see Jason follow him out. The halls are nearly deserted, apparently everyone needs to be early to class today. He keeps walking quickly past classrooms.

Eddie finally reaches his locker. He chose his locker far away from the rest of the people in his grade. Well, the seniors. Instead, you can find his locker down the deserted music hallway. He unlocks his lock effortlessly, and rummages around for his music notes.

"Stupid music history unit-" Eddie flips thrugh all the loose pages at the top of his locker. Robin always told him to clean up there so he can actualy get to classes on time. he hears footsteps behind him. without thinking they were going for him, he turns to see who it is. Unfortunately, he is faced with Jason, who was definitely going for him. Here we go again, Eddie thinks.

"Hey! Freak." He gets all up close and personal. He grabs the front of Eddie's vest and drives him into the lockers behind him. Jason was undeniably strong. Eddie is raised off the ground, on his tippy toes. He can almost feel Jason's breath on his face.

"I saw you, looking at us, at Chrissy. I don't wanna see that again you hear me?" Eddie rolls his eyes. He his slammed into the lockers again. "You fucking hear me?!"

"Yes, I hear you, put me down." Jason narrows his eyes menacingly. Eddie holds back a laugh. With his tactics not working, Jason lets go. Eddie pushes his shoulder out of the way so he can get to class. He feels a hand pushing him, causing him to almost trip over his feet. He turns to look at the guy, giving a look. what the fuck dude?

"You stay away from us,  you little queer." He spits out at Eddie. Eddie's heart falters. He tries to ignore him, it doesn't bother him. He doesn't hear footsteps departing.

"You faggot." Eddie's heart nearly breaks. But, he keeps his composure.  He sticks his middle fingers up at Jason as he walks to the music room.

Eddie will admit, that felt pretty badass and rewarding. It didn't excuse the shitty words that were just thrown at him. He tries and tries to not be bothered when they all call him those things. It's hard, keeping up a facade of someone who doesn't care. He settles into a seat beside Robin, as the teacher begins to speak. He can't help but slump.

---

"What's up with you today?" Robin whispers and nudges Eddie's arm as their english teacher finishes talking about the materials that they need to study for the final. He shrugs. She frowns at him. "Eddddiieeeee! Talk to me, come on what's up?" Across the classroom, the teacher glares at her. She smiles and pretends to look at her notes. She nudges him once again.

"Just- Jason, that's all." He doesn't want her- anyone really- to know how he makes Eddie feel.

"What'd he do? Did he say something?" Her face is very close to his.

"Uhm. He called me queer again. and fa-" He exhales. Robin can feel herself overflowing with anger. she glares over at one of the basketball players in their class. They didn't have Jason in thier class, he was the next best thing.

"Oh, Eddie that sucks. How are you feeling?" She knows him enough to not apologize. He feels like he's impeding when people apologize for things like that. Instead of continuously arguing and reminding him that he was not, she just got used to it and didn't say sorry. He shrugs again. His arms are crossed on his desk. He drops his head into his arms, turning to face Robin.

"Honestly? Like shit, Buckles. But what can I do? he's gonna keep saying that shit, whether we like it or not." Robin frowns again. It's true. there's no stopping it. She pats his shoulder, reassuringly. The two get to the studying they've been assigned.

---

"Ugh! Finally there he is!!"

"I don't- Where is he I don't see him?" Eddie squints into the sun, looking for Steve's car. He is picking Robin up for work and he's behind schedule. Steve pulls up in front of them emerging from the sunny mess ahead. Eddie smiles.

"We're going to be late, do you have any idea what time it is?!" Robin demands as she jerks the car door open, tossing her bag into the back seat. Steve rolls his eyes. He locks eyes with Eddie. The two wave at each other. Robin watches, smirking. When he makes sure Robin is secure in her seat Steve smiles at Eddie once more, and pushes on the gas.  Eddie bites his lip and smiles as he watches his two favourite people drive away.

I'll miss him, Eddie thinks. His face hurts from smiling.
