Time For Love: Ruby Rose X Male OC

Vol. 2 Ch. 10 Avoidance

Ace's POV

It had been a few weeks since I had visited my old house. Coco had been so helpful to me about it. There was just one thing that was starting to bother me. I had recently started to have some feelings for Ruby. Luckily for me, Coco was only one who knew. Partly because she was the one who noticed that I was starting to have a crush on Ruby and then she pointed it out to me. Currently, Coco and I were in her team's dorm because I needed to talk with her about something. She let me in and I sat down on one of the beds, while she sat on the bed opposite me and said, "Okay, Ace. What's up?" I sighed and said, "There's something wrong, but I don't know why it's happening." Coco looked at me confused and said, "What is it?" I looked down and said, "I'm pretty sure Ruby's avoiding me." Coco looked at me over the top of her sunglasses and said, "What do you mean? Did she reject you or something?" I shook my head and replied, "No, because I haven't even been able to tell her how I feel because she's been avoiding me!" I stood up as I said, "At first, I thought I was imagining it...." I started explaining it with a couple examples.

Flashback

I was in the cafeteria, holding my tray of food as I walked over to Team RWBY with my team. As soon as I sat down at the table, Ruby stood up and said, "Well, I got to go do my homework. See you guys later!" Then she left the cafeteria without making any eye contact with me.

End of Flashback

Coco looked at me and said, "Ace, that was one thing. Are you sure that you're still not imagining it?" I sighed and answered, "I know I'm not imagining it! Because a couple days later...."

Flashback

I walked into the target practice room and saw that Ruby was already there. I walked over to her and said, "Hey, Rubes! Mind if I join you?" She immediately holstered Crescent Rose and said, "No, I just finished. Bye." Then she quickly left without saying anything else. I frowned a bit as I looked over at her used target, which only had 5 bullet holes on it. She always did at least 25 rounds before she would even consider being done for the day.

End of Flashback

I was sitting on the bed again with my head in my hands. Coco was sitting next to me and she said, "Yang is Ruby's sister, right?" I nodded and Coco replied, "Have you tried asking her about it?" I nodded and said, "I tried, but Yang just rolled her eyes and changed the subject. I don't know why this is happening." Coco placed her hand on my shoulder and said, "I don't know either,  but let's just see if it gets better in the future. Okay?" I nodded and said, "Okay. Thanks, Coco." She smiled and said, "No problem, Ace." I got up and headed to my dorm.

Coco's POV

After my talk with my cousin, I decided to head to the cafeteria for some food. On my way, I ran into Team RWBY who was heading in the other direction. I stopped them and said, "Hey, girls. What's going on?" I noticed that Ruby was trying to avoid any eye contact with me. I raised an eyebrow and said, "Okay, Ruby. What is it? Why have you been avoiding Ace?" Ruby was startled and ran off. I turned in the direction she went, but was stopped by a hand on my shoulder. I turned back to see Yang looking at me. She took a deep breath and said, "Ruby's been avoiding him since he lied to her and said he needed to talk with Professor Ozpin, when he was really going out on a date with you, Coco." I looked at her confused and said, "What are you talking about?" Yang crossed her arms and said, "Don't lie. You and Ace went on a date together a few weeks back, near the end of the first semester! Ruby saw you two hug afterwards! She said that it didn't look like a friendship hug, it looked stronger than that."

Then the realization of what was happening finally hit me and I said, "So Ruby thinks that Ace and I are dating?" Yang nodded and said, "Yes!" I chuckled lightly and said, "Well, I can assure you that is definitely not true." Yang rolled her eyes and said, "Then explain the hug!" I smirked and said, "Yang. Ace and I are cousins! I'm the closest thing to family that he has left. Most of our family thought he died years ago!" Weiss looked at me puzzled and said, "What do you mean you thought he died years ago?" I looked at them and said, "He never told any of you? His parents died in a Bullhead crash, and he was with them." They all gasped and said, "We had no idea." Then Yang said, "Now this all makes sense. Come on, Coco. We need to tell Ruby!" I nodded and followed them to their dorm. We went inside and, with Yang's help, I explained everything to Ruby. When I was finished explaining everything, Ruby looked down and said, "Now I feel like a jerk for avoiding him. I didn't even know the full story, I just assumed." She got up and said, "I've got to go. There's something I need to do." Then she ran out of the room in a hurry.
