Vol. 2 Ch. 12 Story From The Past

Ace's POV

I looked away and sighed. Ruby looked at me and said, "You don't have to tell me if you're not ready." I shook my head and took a deep breath before I said, "No, I want to tell you. It was the same day that I got the scar across my eye. It was about 4 years ago..."

Flashback

I'd been staying with Ray and his mom for the past 2 years in a nearby village. I was near the outskirts of Mistral by myself, just wondering through the forest until I came across a trio of bandits. They pulled out their weapons as they noticed me, so I pulled out Blitz and Equinox in their sword forms. The bandits didn't hesitate and charged towards me. I knew that I was definitely outnumbered, but I wasn't going to give up without a fight. But as soon as I landed a hit on two of them and broke their Auras, a group of 3 more bandits, that were hiding behind some brush, rushed towards me. I was outnumbered once more and a couple of blows caught me off guard. They launched a flurry of attacks and my Aura took quite a few hits. One of the bandits landed a solid blow on my jaw, which nearly broke my Aura, and he slashed his sword across my face as I closed my eyes. I opened my eyes again and knocked the bandits off as I felt the warmth of some blood on my left eye. I gripped Equinox and Blitz tighter and charged towards the bandits. Only a few of the bandits managed to hit me, but otherwise I was taking out the bandits like a hot knife through butter. I went to shoot one of them with Equinox, but it jammed mid-transformation. One of the bandits used this to their advantage and swung his sword, cutting off my left hand. I cried out in pain and took out the guy with a swing of Blitz in my other hand. Then I heard the sound of Ray's guns approaching as he showed up and helped me take out the rest of the bandits.

End of Flashback

I sat there as Ruby held my hands in hers and I added, "After we had taken care of the bandits, Ray helped me to the nearest hospital. The doctors treated the wound and sent us off. Fortunately for me, I've always been pretty skilled with engineering. So I spent the next couple months studying robotics, and after about 3 months, I had a new hand."

Ruby nodded and said, "Well, I like it. Especially since it makes you more unique." I smiled and kissed her forehead and said, "That's one of the things I like about you, Ruby. You always look at the positive side of things." She blushed slightly and looked away shyly. I smirked and said, "Come on, let's go tell Yang." Ruby looked at me confused and said, "Yang? Why my sister?" I chuckled lightly and said, "Because I'm sure that if we don't tell her, she'll probably kill me once she finds out." Ruby nodded and said, "Yeah, you're probably right." We both chuckled lightly and I kissed her again. When we pulled away, she blushed as red as cape and said, "Why'd you do that?" I smirked and replied, "Do what? Oh, this?" I kissed her once more and she said, "Yeah, that!" I smirked and said, "Am I not allowed to give my girlfriend a kiss?" She shook her head and said, "Not when I'm not prepared for it." She pouted, which was so cute, and I said, "Well, that's something that you'll just have to get used to, Petals." Ruby raised an eyebrow at me and said, "'Petals'?" I smirked and said, "It's my nickname for you." She nodded and said, "Oh. Okay then." Then we both got up and left the music room. We headed for Ruby's dorm while I held Ruby's hand in my left hand, our fingers intertwined.

When we got to her dorm, I looked at her and said, "You ready?" She nodded nervously and I said, "I'll be right here with you, Petals." She smiled a bit more and opened the door. We both walked in and saw that only Yang was in the room. As we entered the dorm, Yang looked up from her Scroll and said, "Hey sis. Hey Ace. What're you two doing here?" Ruby and I both took and deep breath and said in unison, "We're dating." Yang smiled, hugged both me and Ruby, and said, "Well, it's about time!" Then Yang let us go as Ruby and I looked at each other confused and Ruby said, "You're not mad?" Yang shook her head and replied, "Of course not. It's your first relationship! Besides I could tell how much you liked hanging out and spending time with Ace." Yang then turned to me and said, "And Ace, I trust you with my little sister. Promise me that you won't break her heart?" I nodded and said, "I'd never even consider such a thing." Yang smiled and said, "Good. Well, congrats. You two are perfect for each other." We both smiled and I said, "So, Rubes, want to go spar for a bit?" Ruby nodded and said, "Sure!"

After we sparred for a while, I said, "Hey Petals, would you like to go out on date tomorrow night?" She blushed and said, "S-sure." I smiled and said, "Great, because I have the perfect place in mind." Ruby nodded and said, "Well, we should probably head to our dorms and get some sleep." I nodded and said, "Agreed." As we put away our weapons, I said, "You know, I think I'm gonna take a quick shower before I head to my dorm for the night." Ruby nodded and said, "Oh, okay. Well, see you tomorrow then. Goodnight, Ace." I gave her a quick peck on the lips and said, "Goodnight, my wonderful Rose Petal." She blushed and headed back towards the dorms. I took a quick shower and put on the spare pair of dark blue sweatpants that I had in my locker. I put my jacket over my shoulder and headed towards my dorm. When I got to my dorm, I noticed that there was a sock on the doorknob and I could just barely make out the faint sounds of moaning coming from inside the dorm.

I sighed and went to Ruby's dorm. I knocked on the door and Blake answered it. She gave me a tired look and I said, "Hey Blake, sorry if I woke you up." She shook her head and said, "I was still awake. Just reading a bit before bed. What's up?" I sighed and replied, "Well, there's a sock on my dorm's doorknob, and I'm pretty sure I could hear Ray and Bella having sex. I don't want to see that, so I was wondering if I could crash in your girls' dorm for the night?" Blake shrugged and said, "Sure, I think we have a spare futon in the closet that you can use." I smiled and said, "Thanks, Blake." She nodded and let me in the room. She got the futon out for me and we both woke up Yang to let her know as well. Then I laid down on the futon and fell asleep.
