I stood up and then pulled Eddie up with me.

I saw Nancy and Robin a hundred feet away. I started to run with Eddie in tow behind me.

I took out my pocket knife and attempted to cut the bat creature around Steve's neck off.

"Nancy, on your left!" Robin yelled.

"Go to hell!" Eddie yelled as he beat a creature with an oar. "I said, come on! Let's go!"

I freed the bat thing from Steve's neck after it dug its claws into my arm.

"Shit!" I screamed as the sleeve of my flannel turned a dark color. I ignored it and stood back up, holding the knife in front of me. I stabbed one before Nancy took it out.

Steve grabbed the bat and started hitting it on the ground. He ripped it in half and then spit out a mouthful of blood.

His stomach and back had scratches and blood running down it.

"Steve, oh my god!" Nancy ran to him.

"Jesus Christ. Jesus H. Christ!" Eddie screamed.

"Are you okay?" Nancy asked Steve, assessing his wounds.

"Well, they took about a pound of flesh," He looked down at his body. "But other than that, yeah, never better."

"Uh, do you guys think that these bats have, like, rabies?" Robin asked.

"What?" Steve questioned.

"It's just that rabies are, like, my number one greatest fear. And I think that we should probably get you to a doctor really soon because once the symptoms set in, it's too late. You're already dead," Robin rambled worriedly.

More bat creatures chittered above us so naturally we all hid behind Steve.

I clung onto Eddie's arm and waited for the impact of another fight. However, they didn't come near us, they surrounded the gate.

"All right, there's not that many. We can take 'em. Right?" Steve said.

With a crack of lightning, a swarm of bats was descending towards us.

"You were saying?" Robin said uneasily.

Nancy turned away from the bat things. "Into the woods. Come on." She started to run.

Survival of the fittest I guess.

Steve, Eddie and I didn't hesitate to follow behind her.

"Great, more running," Robin exclaimed as she followed us.

We ran all the way to Skull Rock and hid underneath it. The swarm was still in the air. So, we waited until they went away to get up.

"Oh, okay. That was close," Robin sighed with relief.

We all got up.

Steve stumbled a bit. "Oh, sh..shit."

"Steve?" Nancy looked worried. "Jesus."

"I'm fine. I'm fine," He said breathlessly.

"No, no, no. You're not. You're losing a lot of blood," Nancy looked at him. "Come on, sit. Sit, alright?"

I scooted over to Eddie since I hated the sight of blood, especially in large quantities.

"Eddie," I leaned against him.

"Charlie," He wrapped his arms around me.

"What are we?" I asked him.

"Well, considering you wanted to get married to me before you die, I'd say, boyfriend, fiancé, or husband. Pick one," He replied.
