A/N: I wrote this a while ago and totally forgot about it. :o But better late than never, right? This is Nick and Blake's first kiss from Blake's POV. If you want to reread The Kiss from Nick's POV first, like the title says, it's in chapter 30. Happy reading!
"You've completely lost your mind."
Blake sighed. "Karen."
"No. Don't you 'Karen' me. I won't accept any other answer. You lost it."
Look, I'm with you on that but—
"Blink twice if you've been abducted and someone is forcing you to hit on Nick Walsh."
Blake rolled his eyes, having half a mind to cut his video call with his friend short now. Karen meant well, but he'd already made up his mind and wanted encouragement, not judgement.
"It can and it will happen, Karen."
Karen threw her hands up in the air. "Why do you even want anything to happen with him? I always thought you had good taste. I take it back."
"I stand by my tastes, they're still impeccable," Blake retorted. "Besides, you can't talk about taste, honey. You admitted you thought Matthew had a nice smile. I believe you called it 'the cutest dimple.' Disregarding the man's entire personality, of course."
Karen groaned, and grabbed two fistfuls of her brown hair. "We agreed I was drunk and we wouldn't talk about that again. Speaking of which..." Karen leaned closer to the camera and narrowed her eyes. "Are you still drunk? Did you forget who you're dealing with? This is Nick, a guy who threw garbage at you in high school."
Blake frowned. "Nick never did that."
"...Fine. Maybe he didn't throw literal garbage at you, but how exactly are you picturing skipping happily into the sunset with a bully's bff?"
"The same way I became friends with the bully in case you forgot. And Nick isn't...He's..." Blake trailed off. More sensitive than Blake had ever imagined, and a lot easier to live with than expected too. And utterly adorable. He'd even apologised for what had happened in high school, something Blake had never expected from any of the football team aside from Sem.
"Yes, I know. He's someone you used to fantasise about. I remember." Karen gagged exaggeratedly.
"Used to?" Blake joked.
Karen made another disgusted noise. "Blake, we'll have to start considering it a character flaw at some point if you keep giving buff jocks passes for being assholes just because you think they're hot."
"I only give passes to those I feel still have hope."
"You mean the ones you feel have a big dick and chiseled abs?"
Blake snorted. "Look, I won't lie and say Sem has never let anything about Nick in the locker room slip but—"
"Gross!"
"—But Nick literally said he thought I was cute. And I saw him with another guy. I'm not making that up."
Blake took note of his own bitter tone, but he couldn't stop it. Honestly, if anyone should have been Nick's bi awakening, it should've been him. Not random, I'm-so-innocent Alex from London, who slithered in like a snake and didn't even have a cute British accent because apparently he was Dutch by origin.
Karen was quiet for a moment. Then she sighed. "I just don't want you getting hurt, Blakey. That's all. Guys like him can seem so nice while you're abroad and away from his bully friends. And they'll just as easily go back to being a jerk again when you get home and you're back in your old dynamics. Be careful with yourself, okay? I'm worried."
