Minhyuk awoke with a sharp inhale and sharp pain on his right side.
"I wouldn't get up just yet, Professor Moon," a woman's voice pierced through his foggy mind.
Minhyuk sank back and expected clumped-up sand but was surprised to feel a soft mattress. With his vision clearing, he squinted at the brown ceiling fan and then at his surroundings. It was a neglected rural hospital, evidenced by the chipped plaster and the rusty metal IV stand.
He turned to the woman who walked toward him. Sunlight flashed on her golden name tag. Secretary Mina Myoui.
"What-what happened?" Minhyuk swallowed, mouth parched.
"We found you a day after the men came running to the nearest village," Mina handed Minhyuk a glass of water. "We couldn't let the company's favorite intellectual go missing. Now could we?"
Minhyuk rolled his eyes but winced when it made him dizzy. He already dreaded going back to Seoul.

PSY Technologies, Employee Handbook
Minhyuk stepped out of the lift and into his private laboratory. It was a stark contrast to the greens of rainforests or the whites of glaciers. Everything was set in metal, had several chrome instruments, and had walls lined with shiny drawers, within them a collection of artifacts. It was suffocating.
PSY Technologies had a dress code and it made Minhyuk tug at the collar of his dress shirt.
"Blasted tie," he grumbled and threw his necktie to a corner.
He placed his second cup of English Breakfast tea on the metal table and put on his earphones; ready to be immersed back in his work. That week a scroll with symbols needed to be translated into the Roman alphabet.
Before he could turn on his magnifying lamp, the glass doors opened loudly and announced a VIP visitor.
