A whole week had passed and right now he was sitting outside Dr. Hamilton's office in Minnesota, waiting for Meredith. The kids had stayed home with Maggie and Amelia while Nick and Meredith had taken a plane to Minnesota for the weekend, so that Meredith could talk to Dr. Hamilton about the contract and her new job. She had been extremely scared to come here and it had taken her a long time until she had been able to even walk through the entry of the hospital. He was more than excited that soon they would be working here together, hoping that the start of this new chapter in her life would help her to let go of the past and be happy again. Even on the flight she had been extremely tense and also absent once again so that he hadn't been able to actually talk to her and during the first night in his house she had been awake pretty much the whole time despite the sleeping aid she had taken before. He had just tried to be there for her, exactly like he had the past month.
But he was optimistic that the change was good for her. She needed something new, to start over, just like she had explained she was now finally ready to start a new chapter of her life.
Suddenly the door opened and Meredith walked out, it was obvious that she was trying to smile but he could see her lower lip trembling even from a few feet away. He quickly rushed over to her, taking her into his arms where she quietly started to cry into his shoulder. Change was good, but it was also hard. Especially after everything that had happened.
"It's okay, slow deep breaths." He instructed as he noticed how her breathing started to get quicker and quicker once again. "I-I need- I'm not ready." She mumbled, trying to catch her breath as she pulled away. "What do you mean you're not ready? You don't want to move yet?" he asked, a little confused, still holding both her hands to ground her and prevent any other panic attack that might come. "No- no I-I'm ready- just not- to work... yet." She said embarrassedly, looking down at the floor. "I'm not ready because- I-I can't start a new job- while- there- there's still so much to do in Seattle and- Bailey- I need to talk to her. I can't start a new- a new job before talking things through. She was my mentor for- so many years and I can't just leave like that. So- I didn't sign the contract yet." She mumbled, tears still running down her cheeks.
"Oh, Mer, no need to worry, I totally understand what you're saying." He said, lifting his hand to gently stroke her cheek. "You're not disappointed because I said I would sign the contract today?" she sniffled, still not looking at him. He carefully lifted her chin, making her look into his eyes.
"Meredith Grey. Listen to me. I love you, okay? And I understand and support every single one of your decisions. So, stop feeling bad because there's nothing to feel bad about. Everything's okay. The kids are all happy and healthy, we are happy and healthy, we had a wonderful few weeks, just the two of us and you're about to start a new chapter of your life. We're about to start a new chapter of our lives, together." He said, starting to get extremely emotional all of the sudden.
"Now we're both crying." Meredith giggled, her eyes suddenly sparkling again as she looked deeply into his eyes. "I don't care if I'm crying Mer, I'm just so happy and I just realize again how lucky I am to have you." He said, pulling her in for a kiss. "I love you too Nick, and I'm so happy too." She breathed, leaning her forehead against his.
"What about we go home and just- relax for the rest of the day. Our flight is leaving tomorrow evening and then you can talk to Bailey about everything." He said, brushing his hand through her soft hair. "Okay." She said, leaning in for another kiss.

Two hours later they were sitting on Nick's bed, cuddled into each other and a pile of blankets, eating snacks while watching a movie on Netflix.
"Do you think Zola, Bailey and Ellis are really happy with moving here?" Meredith asked shyly as the movie was over and Nick turned off the tv. "I think so, Zola already told me a few days ago that she had done some research on science projects at nearby schools because she wants to go to a school with more opportunities in this area then her school in Seattle offers." He chuckled, kissing the top of Meredith's head.
"She really told you that?" Meredith chuckled, leaning into him again. "She did, and Bailey added that he only cared about good playgrounds near our house." He replied, smiling at her from the side. „Our house. That really sounds amazing." Meredith said, closing her eyes, nothing but content in this moment, right where she was. The past few months she had somehow forgotten how it felt like being happy. But now this feeling was back, stronger then ever before. She hasn't ever been happier before.
"Our house. It really does sound great." He chuckled, laying down with her on his chest. "We're moving in together, we're taking the next step. It's all going so fast." She said.
"Too fast?" he asked, scared that what he had said might have scared her away again. "No, not too fast. Just faster than imagined. But I love it and I wouldn't want to spend another single day not living with you. I mean- we've been sleeping in the same bed, every single night for a whole month now. And I love it. It's amazing. Because- well, we can just wake up in the middle of the night to have sex." She said, making him laugh again.
"Mhm, sex whenever we want sounds really good." He said, turning her onto her back, hovering over to her, starting to kiss her passionately. "Mhm." Meredith moaned, bringing her hands under his shirt, quickly ripping it off of him as he started to get her out of her pyjama, both of them never breaking the kiss.

"Wow, that was amazing." Meredith sighed, trying to catch her breath as they were now, after two rounds, lying next to each other again, completely naked. "It was." Nick breathed, turning to pull her into his arms again. "I haven't ever been so happy I think." She suddenly said, looking into his eyes, smiling up at him.
"I'm happy that you're happy." He said, kissing her cheek lovingly. "But I still have a lot of energy... wanna go again?" he asked after a few seconds of silence and before she could answer he already had placed his lips on hers again, caressing her back gently before starting to take care of her in a very special way.
Sorry for making you wait so long =) <3
