Mathew
I had hope and love to wait forever but I was least expecting this.
I get on my bike and ride towards the hospital that I used to visit everyday for three months, almost two and a half years ago. Just before I went for the undercover mission, I shifted Jeni to my house. Her mother took full care of her. Though my parents were initially worried that my life will end in my wait for her recovery, they gradually accepted the fact that I will not move on from her. She was my stranger when we got engaged. She became the love of my life even before our marriage.
How can I let go of her for a mere accident?
When I confronted Gowtham before his father himself encountered him, he said that Jeni's last words were that she loves me. The one time she said those words without me insisting she say it, I couldn't hear it. Whether it was the days I used to regularly visit her in the hospital or sneak into my own house during the undercover mission or everyday for the past four months, I never missed to convey my love to her but she never replied. All I wished for her is to wake up and taunt me for always working.
The days I was in the undercover mission were the most difficult days. I had to maintain that I have no family with a different identity and sneak into my own house to meet Jeni. She will be peacefully sleeping and I'll talk with her about what's happening around me. After rejoining my duty, whenever I'm home it has always been her, everyday. Even today morning, before leaving for my duty, I wished her goodbye.
My parents are gone out of town but what my aunt didn't call me?
I enter the hospital gates, leave my bike down and run into the hospital. The security calls for me and I hear Siva's voice, "Machan your bike, da."
"Nee park panidu," I tell him and run to the receptionist. "Jeni... I mean Mrs Jenifer Mathew." (Please park it for me.)
She checks on the computer, "Neenga avangalukku enna venum?" (May I know your relationship with her?)
"I'm her husband, Mathew."
"Second floor, room number 206. Unga mother-in-law emergency ward la admit pai irukanga." (Also your mother-in-law is admitted in the emergency ward.)
"Avangalukku enna aachu?" (What happened to her?)
"BP raise ayidichu, avangalum ambulance la thaan kootitu vanthanga," She replies and I run towards the staircase but she stops me. "Sir, Sir ithula oru signature, doctor ku therinjavanga nu attendener llama admit pannom." I get the pen and sign near the marked line. (Her blood pressure rose and she was brought in the same ambulance. Sir, please sign here. Since the doctor's guarantee we admitted them without an attender.)
"Machan enna achu?" My friends and Ashwika hurry behind me. (What happened?)
"Siva, emergency ward la en athai irukanga nee poi avanga eppadi irukanga paru, naan mela poi Jeni pakanum," I ran towards the staircase and up to the second floor. (Siva, my mother-in-law is in the emergency ward. Please check on her, I need to meet Jeni.)
I hear footsteps behind me but I don't look behind and open the door of room number 206. The doctor who was giving instructions to the nurse stops and looks at me but I look at Jeni who is sleeping.
