Ashwika

Unakku ennum 22 ve aagala aana ella joints valikuthe, Ashwi.

"Ashwi intha necklace um potuko," Moni akka takes out a necklace from its case. (Ashwi, wear this necklace too.)

"Atha vera yen ka potuvitutu eppadiyum ponathum kalatida poranga," Abhita akka, my eldest cousin teases me. (Leave it, akka. Anyways, they are going to remove it.)

"Appadiya Ashwi? En thambi athuku ellam sari pattu vara maatane," Moni akka closes the necklace box. (Is it Ashwi? I was thinking of my brother as an innocent guy.)

Ellam ithaye nenachitu irunga.

"Athuthaan paathom ye kaalaila nalangu apo unga unga thambi enga thangachi eppadi paathutu iruntharu nu," Vaishu akka comments. (We all witnessed how your brother was ogling at our sister during the early morning nalangu.)

"En marriage simple la register office la nadanthuchu athu naala ellam pudusa paathu irupan," Moni akka tries to save her younger brother. (My marriage happened simply in a register office, so he watched everything in wonder as it was new to him.)

"Ashwi, thoongurathuku munnadi nee jewels ellam kalati vachiduvala atha thaan naan sonnen, aana ivanga ellam vera etho nenachitanga pola?" Abhita teases me in a way of clearing her statement but everyone chuckles. (Ashwi, I just said that you always remove your jewels before sleeping. But what are these two talking about?)

Anga oruthan neethu night la irunthu mood oda irukan. Ivanga enada na ippadi kalaikuranga, ayyo Ashwi nee enna panna poiriyo!!

After finishing all the rituals at the wedding hall we were taken to visit Siva's house for the grihapravesh and lighting of the lamp. Shaku ma and Moni akka got the coconut which I was holding in my saree pallu against my belly as instructed by the priest after completion of the rituals.

Siva's eyes were teasingly looking between me and my belly and his face turned into a little boy whose ice cream fell down. Our uncles were talking with each other and our mothers, aunts, sisters were in the kitchen.

I curled a questioning eyebrow at him and he bent down like adjusting his hair and dusting off the archathai in his hair. "Antha thenga un belly ku against ah cute ah baby bump mariye irunthuchu." He leaned back and I gaped at him. (That coconut against your belly looked cute like a baby bump.)

"Ennum First night ke time aagala nee avlo seekiram baby bump ku poita," I whispered through my teeth but he acted as if we were not talking. I took my hand to pinch him but stopped as the ladies returned. (There is still time for our first night but you are already talking about a baby bump.)

They fed us with milk and bananas before taking us back to the hotel. After having our brunch and photoshoot in the wedding hall, corridor, seashore that continued until late in the afternoon, we returned back to our rooms to pack our things and check out. Gratefully, Aathira has packed my things safely in my bags and kept them in the wardrobe before leaving with her parents.

All friends of Siva stayed back, teasing us while taking pictures and helping in packing things. Raj anna apologised for his behaviour last night and I apologised to him for mistaking him. I was the one who told Thooriga that since she is young, he might have avoided her. But I sort of forced Thooriga's feelings on him and it's their life to decide. Still, at the corner of my heart, I was happy that I was able to convey Thooriga's feeling which I doubt would ever change like Raj anna and Rudhran anna are thinking.
