You're Never Satisfied

What exactly was he standing here for? He should have never left his desk. Now he's stuck here outside of Vil's bedroom. It's not like Vil could help him at all. Or could he? No, of course he couldn't. That damn girl didn't even like Vil as a person, let alone as a potential partner. But was it about her specifically liking him, or was it just the need for romantic advice in general? Y/n was far too weird for something like general romantic advice to help. Since there's no point, he may as well...
"Ah, Roi d'Effort! What brings you here at this hour?" Azul freezes. There is no escaping when Rook is there.
"I... just came by to get something for my waitress. Vil promised her free skincare," it wasn't his smoothest lie, he'd admit. He lost all common sense when it came to matters of Y/n.
"What a coincidence! I was asked to bring Vil a new bottle of his favorite hand lotion. Shall we go in together?" Azul hated how this guy made everything sound so dramatic.
"I have no reason to say no to that," Azul sighs. Now he can't even do what he came here to do, as there was no way he would be airing out his girl troubles in front of Rook.
"Vil, I bring you your delivery!" Rook happily bursts into Vil's room. Azul trudges in behind him. He looks around the room, realizing it's actually slightly smaller than his own. At least he has something to feel smug about. It grounds him a little.
"Azul, what are you doing here?" Vil asks, clearly annoyed. He didn't forget how Azul freaked out on him that afternoon. Azul doesn't make eye contact with him.
"Y/n decided to take you up on that offer for face masks... I just came to get some for her," Vil examines Azul's face.
"Is that all? I thought she was supposed to do errands for you, not the other way around."
"What, are you disappointed it's me instead of her!? Of course she wouldn't want to see you after you grabbed her out of nowhere!" Vil can't help but smirk at Azul's sudden anger.
"Are you scared that I'll steal her away from you? Don't worry, she's hardly worth my time," Vil knows this will only piss Azul off more. The two are about to have a standoff when they're reminded that Rook is still there.
"I've yet to meet this elusive waitress! Is she as beautiful as they say?" Rook asks.
"With a little work, she could be very lovely," Azul glares at Vil for implying Y/n isn't already lovely. Vil gets out of bed to retrieve the face masks. Playing with Azul's emotions was a decent way to relieve the stress of what happened before the VDC performance, but the man clearly needed some actual help. "Are you sure that's all?" Azul hesitates.
"...yes, that's all," Azul starts to leave when Vil stops him.
"Wait. Rook, could you give us a moment alone? We have dorm head business to discuss."
"Then I'll be on my way!" Rook leaves with the same energy as always. Azul relaxes just the slightest bit.
"What did you really want?" Vil asks point blank. The man was irritatingly perceptive. Azul didn't answer immediately, not sure of what to say. He stared at the weights Vil kept around for a second. It was hard to believe someone as slender as Vil used those. Would Y/n like him more if he worked out? He was hardly athletic. It was possibly his greatest weakness. Did she like buff guys, or would she prefer him as he is now? Not that she was shallow enough to only like him if he had muscles. Or was she that shallow? Azul chose to believe that she was not.
"I... need advice," was all Azul could say.
"About what?" Vil wasn't going to give this to him so easily.
"You know what."
"I want to hear you say it," Vil grinned at the defeated Azul.
"About Y/n. About... about how to get her attention. I... I want her to like me," Azul winces at the words coming out of his mouth. He was seriously considering getting her to just sign a contract with him to be his instead of humiliating himself like this. But in the end, he wanted her to genuinely like him.
"Listen closely, because this is the only thing you need to know about how to impress her: ask her out. It's as simple as that," Vil sits down on the loveseat at the front of his bed, content with his advice.
"That's all you have to say!? If it were that simple, I would have done that by now!" Vil rolls his eyes at Azul's naïveté.
"It is that simple. She already likes you. I saw how she held you after our little encounter earlier."
"She's just like that with everyone..." Azul sadly tells him. Vil rolls his eyes twice as hard.
"Look, if you really find it so hard to believe that she genuinely likes you, then there's nothing I can do for you. All I have to offer besides that is a proper beauty routine to make you more appealing in general."
"Sure, give me that. Whatever it takes," Vil can't help but sigh at Azul's misplaced determination.
"You're completely hopeless. Do you really think Y/n is so shallow that you can get her to love you by being more like me? She doesn't want me, she wants you. Talk to her, be more open, and she'll be under your spell in no time. And use a few of those face masks for yourself. It can't hurt. I'm done with this conversation," Vil gets back on his bed, shooing Azul away. Azul stomps out without saying a word. He lets Vil's words sink in on the way back to Octavinelle. Some of what he said could be true, he could stand to be more open with her. At least if she didn't like him in the end, he could move on from there. He did end up using one of those face masks when he got back to his room, but when he saw himself in the mirror, he just felt stupid. He ripped it off immediately and went to bed tense and unsatisfied.
