An Airhead, A Nerd

Chapter 2

He saw her first in front of the mall. She was wearing a burnt orange sun dress and carried a black little bag on her shoulders. She was looking around nervously before they spotted each other. Naruto ran up to him and her hug was so warm that he hugged her in return.

"Well it seems I have a lot to work out for you," She murmured as she took in Shino's plain black shirt and dark blue jeans. His arms while buff was extremely pale. She hummed thoughtfully as she layered outfits on him in her mind. "I can't wait any longer let's go," She took his hand and led him inside. Shino took in her short frame and dressed so beautifully. Her tanned shoulders led to her unmarked neck and the way her curled hair bounced around as she was looking around for their first store.

"You're more of a formal casual attire Shino. I can't see you in anything super lazy casual," She started as they entered a mid-range clothing store targeted at males. "Your arms suggest you mostly wear long sleeves like yesterday."

"My skin is sensitive to the sun, I'm easy to burn," He confirmed. Naruto paused in her step to look up at him.

"So why are you wearing this?" She tugged at his shirt. "Where's your face mask?"

"I thought it would ruin the outing we were having."

"But if it comes at your discomfort then it's a problem. I don't want you to be uncomfortable Shino. Come on I'll get you a mask and long sleeve in here for your discomfort," She pulled him into the store and looked around for a moment before going over to a particular section and picking out a plain black cotton face mask and handed it to Shino as she wandered over the sweatshirt section and pulled a dark gray one from the racks. She reached around Shino and checked the tags on his shirt to confirm his size. 

During this moment Shino had the opportunity to take in the scent of Naruto, her gentle perfume aroma of cherry blossoms, it was an intimate moment and for a second Shino felt an urge to hold her waist. He suppressed himself however and soon enough Naruto moved away from him and headed to check out to purchase both items. She then let Shino head into the bathroom and put on both pieces after spraying them with alcohol.  When he was out Naruto sprayed him with her perfume and smiled when she saw Shino's shoulders relax. 

"Feeling better?" She asked hopefully and Shino could admit that he was feeling much better. 

"Yes, thank you, Naruto," He spoke softly and the blonde was glowing as she took his hand and dragged him around to all the popular stores, and the bags quickly began to add up as the day went on. Shino could see that while it was wearing Naruto down she was still going for him as they were getting great hauls. 

"Naruto," Shino called out softly. The blonde turned to him with a question on her face. "We need to take a break, your feet must be hurting." 

She seemed surprised and hesitant to leave the store to find the food court. "But, there's more for you here," She mumbled with a pout. 

"I know and we'll get back to that but we need a break," Shino coaxed her out of the store and led her to a food court, and sat her down at a two-person seating area. Their bags littered the area around them as Shino bought them Korean corndogs and lemonade. 

Shino was content to forgo food but Naruto wasn't having it when she realized that she had nearly eaten 6 corndogs by herself. "Why aren't you eating?" 

"I'm not particularly hungry, I'll just take some lemonade." 

She shook her head and moved to sit next to him and pulled down his mask and held a corn dog to his mouth. "It doesn't carry a strong scent so it should be fine," Naruto looked concerned. "Or do you have something against the texture of the product?" 

"You're actually really thoughtful," Shino mumbled before he allowed her to feed him two corndogs. She was happy with that much and they soon went back to shopping and caught the last bus back to their area. 

"Thanks for going out with me Shino," Naruto had her face buried in his bicep as she was extremely tired now. Shino was happy so he rested his head on hers. Naruto giggled. 

"I enjoyed my time with you Naruto," He spoke quietly.

"I'm happy," Naruto purred as she settled down on Shino's shoulder and soon fell asleep. Shino was happy he made her that comfortable.
