Thank you for 740+ reads! I actually almost completely forgot that I had to post today, oops. I did remember when I went onto Wattpad, though. On another note, I drove by myself to get gas for the first time yesterday and wow. Well, here's today's chapter :)
"Mm-Hmm. An intra-school ball game tournament, is it?" Korosensei questions, looking at the paper Isogai had acquired, the class rep writing on the board.. "Cultivating healthy minds and bodies through sports... Most excellent!" Then Korosensei sweats a bit, displaying the paper. "However... Why is the E Class not listed among the brackets?"
"The E Class doesn't get entered into the tournament, for the wonderful reason that it'd leave us with an odd number of teams." Mimura shrugs. "Instead, we have to play in an exhibition game at the end."
"An exhibition game?" Korosensei murmurs, looking at the announcement at the bottom of the paper in tiny font.
"Basically, it's just a spectacle. They pit the boys against the baseball team and us girls against the girls' basketball team while the whole school watches." I say with a frown. Even before I got transferred to E Class, I always felt bad for the people in E Class during this stupid event.
"I see. So the usual E Class treatment, then." Korosensei says.
"Yep." Kataoka confirms while the classroom door opens, Terasaka, Muramastu, and Yoshida standing at the exit.
"Well, we're not gonna stick around to be laughingstocks." Terasaka huffs. "You guys can do what you like. See ya."
"Hey, wait! Terasaka!" Isogai calls after them, though they ignore him, the door sliding shut. "Sheesh."
"You're the baseball expert here, Sugino. Got any secrets we can use to win?" Maehara asks, all of us turning to look at the dark-haired boy. Sugino just looks down, not meeting our eyes.
"It's impossible. Our baseball team is pretty strong. Especially Shindo, the current team captain. His explosive fastball has even caught the eye of prestigious high schools. A star pupil and star athlete... It's unfair." Sugino explains. "But, you know... I want to win, Korosensei. Not just put up a good fight. Win. I don't want to lose at the sport I love." He says, looking down at a baseball in his hands. "After getting kicked out of the baseball team and coming to E Class, my feelings have actually only grown stronger. I want to team up with these guys and win-" Sugino looks up at our teacher and stops abruptly.
"Oh, I'm so excited! So excited!" Korosensei cheers, his head looking like a baseball and holding a bunch of baseball equipment in his tentacles.
"R-Right. You want to play baseball too." Sugino says, all of us giving our teacher a weird look, our teacher merely laughing.
"I've always wanted to be the fiery coach in a sports drama. I won't smack you kids around or anything. Instead, I'll flip dinner tables." Korosensei says, holding up a table packed with food.
"You're way too prepared!" Sugino exclaims.
"Where did he even get that?!" I question incredulously.
"Lately, you've grown more articulate about the direction you want to go in. 'I want to kill.' 'I want to win.' Unwavering, no matter the adversity you face. To reward that spirit, Coach Koro will impart upon you the training and strategy you need to win!" Korosensei says. The boys spend the rest of the time leading up to the game practicing as hard as they can.
The brief gist I got of it from Maehara and Isogai is that first Korosensei had them train with pitches up to 300km/h before exactly mimicking Shindo's pitches so that they can effortlessly bunt anything he can throw. I wonder how they're doing? The time the girls' basketball exhibition game takes place overlaps slightly with the boys' baseball exhibition game, so that means I get to miss the beginning. In the end, we lose the basketball game, but I don't think any of us are really surprised.
