Hello, and thank you for 3.3k+ reads and 150+ votes! Also, a special thanks to Una_Tizia_Volante and arianaescobar12 for voting as well as Wyvyfrost for commenting! My school started this Monday and I guess it's not as bad as I thought it would be in combination with my job, but I haven't written at all since it started, so I'm very glad I'm several chapters ahead in drafts. I actually almost forgot to post this. I don't have work today, though, so when I finish my schoolwork for today I plan on trying to finish the chapter I'm currently writing. Anyways, this chapter was one of my favorites to write out of the whole fic, so here's today's chapter :)
Before we went back to school, though, we still had the rest of our last day. After playing on the beach for a little while, we head back to the hotel where Korosensei presents us with a proposition.
"A test of courage? Now?" Nagisa asks as we all look curiously at our teacher.
"Indeed! What better activity for a midsummer night?" He asks, stretching a tentacle behind his round head.
"You just want to have some fun." Karma observes, leaning back on his hands as he sits on the ground.
"Unlike you guys, I've been cooped up in a shell this whole time!" Korosensei complains. "On a tropical isle, no less!"
"A test of courage? Sounds like fun!" Maehara says excitedly.
"Right?" Isogai agrees.
"What do you think, (Y/n)?" Maehara turns to me, beaming.
"I, uh... Well, it doesn't sound bad..." I say, caught off guard by his enthusiasm.
"But I don't like scary stuff." Kurahashi says sheepishly.
"No sweat! Korosensei'll be playing the ghosts." Sugino points out.
"Oh, right!" Kurahashi perks up. Of course, at the time, we didn't anticipate his real intentions. Korosensei leads us to a cave on the edge of the beach, the entrance hidden in the rocks.
"We'll hold it in this sea cave." Korosensei says, gesturing to the entrance. "Walk through the exit in pairs: one boy, one girl." Maehara immediately grabs my hand and gives me a smile. I smile back as our classmates bustle around us to get into pairs.
When it is me and Maehara's turn, we start by simply walking in, holding a flashlight out to see the way.
"He calls this a test of courage? It's just a dark cave." Maehara says with a laugh.
"Watch it, you'll jinx us." I joke. Really though, this isn't scary at all. Suddenly, we hear the sound of an Okinawan banjo and small bursts of blue flames appear.
"Sooo scary." Maehara says as Korosensei slowly appears from the darkness, adorned in a traditional outfit and holding the banjo.
"This is a blood-drenched cave of tragedy..." He says in a spooky voice. "Where Ryukyu royalty, defeated in battle, met a violent end." Korosensei says, disappearing.
"Such a great story." I murmur. Then he appears behind us, only his face visible.
"You must stay together." He whispers, the hair on the back of my neck standing up. "Wandering spirits will haunt to death anyone left alone!" We whip around, but he's no longer there.
"O-Okay, maybe we should get moving." Maehara says, hugging my arm.
"Wait, that scared you? You know he's joking right?" I say as we keep walking, hearing him repeat his speech to the next pair of victims. "See? He's saying it again."
