I wake up the next morning in Maehara's arms, his golden eyes gazing at me fondly.

"Morning." He says, his voice slightly raspy. I brush a stray lock of hair out of his face.

"Morning." I reply as he pulls me closer, pecking my forehead and running a hand through my hair. Now to figure out what to tell my mom... Luckily dad isn't home right now, otherwise this would be a lot harder. Well, that can wait for now. I think back to last night. I can't believe I kissed my best friend, and I can't believe he loves me. Assuming I heard correctly, which I'm like ninety-nine percent sure I did, but...

"(Y/n)." My mom says, knocking on my door. I tense, sitting up in my bed. Maehara watches me.

"Yes?" I say.

"Can you come here, sweetie?" She says.

"Yeah..." I answer carefully. "I'll be right back." I whisper to Maehara.

"I know you will." He says with a small smile. I return his look before creeping out of my room.

"Let's talk in the living room." My mom says, leading me down the hallway.

"Okay... You're acting weird." I say as she sits me down on the couch and takes the seat next to me.

"I know that Hiroto is here." She says. My eyes widen.

"How-"

"It's okay, I don't care why. I trust you had a good reason, so I won't pry, but you're lucky your father isn't here." She says, holding my hands.

"Really? Thanks, but... how did you figure it out?" I ask.

"You two weren't exactly quiet." She says.

"Don't say it like that, it sounds dirty!" I protest. "Also, how did you know it was Hiroto?"

"His mom called and asked if he was here. And besides, even if she hadn't called, I still would've assumed it was him. Who else would you bring over?" She says.

"She's got you there." Maehara says, leaning against The doorframe. I jump in surprise.

"Don't do that!" I scold him. "Were you eavesdropping?!"

"'You two weren't exactly quiet.'" He says with an amused smile. Ah, so he heard that part!

"It's good to see you." My mom says, briefly patting his shoulder as she passes by him. "Your teacher called and said school was canceled for today, so feel free to just hang out and do whatever. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes." I gape after her. What just happened?

"You'll catch flies if you leave your mouth open like that." Maehara comments, taking my mom's place on the couch and lightly closing my mouth.

"Huh?" I hum, staring at him as he lays his head in my lap and yawns.

"I'm still tired..." He groans. It's almost as if last night didn't happen... Maybe I did hear wrong...

The next day at school we are tasked with researching jobs that interest us. Most people have at least one idea down, but I have none. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Absolutely no ideas whatsoever. I plop my head on my desk and sigh.

"Why is this so difficult?!" I whine, stabbing my paper with my pencil. Maehara, slumped over his desk and resting his head on his arms, turns his head to look at me.
