Hello! I hope you all enjoy this surprise update. Why, you may ask? It's Maehara's birthday (December 6th)! Well, at least it is still his birthday in my time zone. Apparently he shares a birthday with my grandma, too. This isn't a birthday special or anything, it's just a regular chapter, but I still felt like I should do it. I wrote a decent bit of it on my own, so I hope you like it. And off topic, but all of my top 5 songs on Spotify wrapped were from the Assassination Classroom soundtrack because that's what I listen to when writing the scenes I come up with. Anyways, thank you for 6.9k+ reads and 235+ votes! Also, a special thanks to V0IDICES for voting! Here's the chapter :)

With the time I have left, I decide to work on the problem. Even though I know I'm not going to finish it, I want to try to get as many points as I can from it. I steal nervous glances at Karma as he works on the same problem, noting how hard he is thinking. I start solving, gaining confidence as I go. Maybe I can solve it! Then I hit a roadblock. That can't be the answer, right?! I frustratedly erase my work. I catch Maehara's eyes as he shoots me a concerned look. Taking the three seconds I did to simply look at him help me calm down, even if by a small amount. I take a deep breath and smile at him. He reluctantly looks away, focusing on his own work. I'm going to be hearing about that later.

I reread the problem, trying not to think about the time limit. Wait a second... Did I really miss that? The wording is kinda weird, so I guess it's not that surprising, but if I'm right this is surprisingly simple. Well, I only have a couple minutes left and this is better than nothing. I guess I'll just go with it. I finish writing in the ratio seconds before the time limit ends.

"Pencils down!" The teacher says, the end of school bell chiming merges with the end of his sentence. "Please remain seated and pass your tests forward." He waits, eyes raking over us until he receives all the papers. Then he flips through the papers agonizingly slow, making sure each one is accounted for. Scowling, he sets them on his desk. "You're dismissed." He says simply.

We all push ourselves out of our seats and quickly head for the door. Due to today being dedicated to testing, we have no belongings to pack up. Before I can leave, though, Maehara gently grabs one of my hands between his, forcing me to hang back behind the rest of our classmates. Ignoring the glares from the supervising teacher, I follow my boyfriend outside the room and slightly down the hall, the blond making sure to send an unpleasant look right back at the balding man.

"Are you okay? You looked a little stressed back there." Maehara asks, frowning slightly.

"I think we were all stressed." I say with a slight smile. Maehara rolls his eyes and squeezes my hand.

"You know what I mean. The whole angrily erasing half the page." He elaborates, looking at me expectantly.

"Oh, that. Yeah, I'm fine now. And that 'half a page' was only one problem. I did end up with an answer. Who knows if it's actually right, though." I shrug. "As cheesy as it might sound, you're partially to thank for that."

"What, getting an answer?" Maehara says, sounding confused as I tug his hand, heading for the school's exit.

"Mhm." I hum. "When I saw you watching me it forced me to look away from it, and I couldn't exactly be that frustrated while looking at you." Looking over my shoulder at him I watch as a soft smile appears on his face, accompanied by a pink tint on his cheeks. We finally make it to the end of the hall and  Maehara speeds up slightly, dropping my hand and pushing the door open. He holds it open for me with a small bow, the gesture causing me to giggle.

"Oh, wow. Such a gentleman." I say as he lets the door close behind us.

"Of course. I need to find some way to make up for being such a womanizing scumbag." He says jokingly, though his laughter doesn't fully meet his eyes. My smile disappears.
