To new Beginnings

Evelyn Barnes was a strong, fearless beauty with brains. A vampire with a troubled past and a lot of baggage trying to find her place in the world. The moment she heard about the animal attacks and strange scenes taking place in Mystic Falls, she knew it was the place for her to be, to live a human life in a crazy town while having the upper hand over all the town's deadly creatures.

"Hello, Hi is this Jenna Sommers?" "Yes, speaking. Who is this?" Jenna replied. "I am Evelyn Barnes. I will be moving into Mystic Falls soon, in Mr. Walker’s house. He told me to contact you since you are taking care of it. " Evelyn said. "Oh yeah right, Benjemin talked about you. You are going to be our new neighbor" Jenna replied, with excitement in her tone. Evelyn continued, "Well, I am coming tomorrow. I just wanted to inform you beforehand." "I’ll be here to give you the keys, Have a safe journey," Jenna wished her. "Thank you, Miss. Sommers."

Mr. Walker was an elderly man living in Chicago with no family. She knew that even if she was living there on rent, she wouldn't be able to enter the house without an invitation, so she did what she thought was best. She called one of her Chicago contacts and asked him to compel Mr. Walker to call Jenna and tell her about Evelyn, and then transfer the house deed to her name. Evelyn had become accustomed to not having to pay for anything after being a vampire for so long.

Evelyn took a deep breath as she hung up the phone. Tomorrow would mark the beginning of a new chapter in her life. At the same time, she hoped that tomorrow would bring another chance to put a happy ending to her old story.

"Hey Lokes, look it's morning, wake up, we have to go to Mystic Falls. Yes, I know you are not a morning person, but please wakey wakey. And stop jumping on the boxes that I have packed. Can you not see that they are marked "fragile"?" She chastised her cat, who simply ignored her and sat on a carton, licking his paws.

She stood up from the kitchen table with a checklist in hand saying "Good, now all I have to do is put these boxes in the car and we are good to go." She put Loki in his little pet carrier, and compelled a few guys to load boxes into her car. Little did she know about the chaos she was walking into.

Finally Evelyn was in town. She stoped at the Mystic Falls entry sign to click a selfie. She looked at the picture and silently wished her family was there with her too. Quickly getting out of the moment she got back to her car and drove to her new abode.

Evelyn was soon outside the house where she would be living. She knocked on the door of the house next door. Evelyn was startled when a brunette opened the door; the girl had the face of someone she had known in the past. She waited for the girl to acknowledge her but all she got was “Can I help you with something?” She knew Elena was a doppelganger because she had gathered information about everyone in town, from Elena's parents death to the vampire Salvatores to the Lockwoods being werewolves she knew everything. But still seeing Elena standing in front of her was bound to surprise her.

She quickly masked her momentarily surprised expression and said “Hello there, I am looking for Jenna Sommers. She has the key to my house." "Elena, it must be Evelyn, she is moving next door, invite her in for coffee," Jenna yelled from upstairs. Elena invited Evelyn inside. Evelyn walked in happily, relieved that she didn't have to force anyone to invite her in on her first day in town.

Jenna came down with her hair in a bun and looked at the raven-haired girl sitting on her sofa; she appeared to be Elena's age, but she was living alone and driving her own car. She couldn't believe her eyes but didn't say anything. "Hello, and welcome to Mystic Falls. How was your journey? You moved from North Carolina, right?" she asked. "Oh, the journey was fantastic. It's actually nice out here; it feels like a new beginning for me," Evelyn said with a smile. "By the way, this is Elena, my niece; she has a brother named Jeremy. You can always come to us if you need anything in town, so feel free to ask." Elena and Evelyn greeted each other.

Evelyn refused to stay for coffee because her cat was getting fussy in the car alone, so Jenna gave her the key. As she was leaving Elena said, "We can be friends. You're probably going to Mystic High so we will be together there as well, and I'll help you get settled. You can also meet some of my friends so you don't feel lost in town." "That would be fantastic," Evelyn said with a genuine smile. " I'd appreciate the company." "Great, we can meet afterwards and maybe help you with settling in as well." "Thank you very much, Elena."

And with that Evelyn was on her way to open her new home.
