5. Exploring

I woke up to muffled talking, and as my senses kicked in I heard Elton's voice.
He was talking to someone, but no one was replying so I assumed he was on the phone. I stretched and rolled over to see the bed beside me was empty. I felt a stinging pain in my back and I remembered what happened last night, and it sent chills up my spine. So it was all real, evil things are real.

"Yep, okay sounds good, bye."
Elton hung up the phone and looked over at me. "Morning sunshine, how are you feeling?"

I sat up and pushed the hair out of my face. "I feel okay, my back is burning though."

A concerned look went across his face and he got up from his bed and sat down next to me. "Can I take a look?" He asked.

I nodded and turned away from him so he could lift up my shirt.

As he did it I heard the door to the room swing open, followed by Corey's voice. "Oh my god Kara" he said as he walked over.

"What? I said, turning back to see Colby and Sam walking into the room. They both froze in the doorway. Elton looked at them and then back at me. "You uh, have a few more scratches.."

"What?!" I yelled as I got up and ran to the bathroom.

Everyone followed me as I turned around. Elton came over and lifted my shirt for me and I gasped. There were two big lines along my rib cage, 3 right below my bra line, 3 up by my neck and 2 more right above my pant line.
"Holy shit" Colby said as we all studied them, "I don't think it's safe to stay here another night."

"Funny you say that because I actually just booked us a new hotel just down the road. I figured we could go do some activities today and film and tonight we'll sleep there."

Thank god for Elton.
Everyone agreed that was a good idea.
"Good, this place gives me the creeps" said Corey as he walked back out of the bathroom.
"Yeah when I was trying to go to bed it sounded like someone was tapping on different things in the room, I was like fuck this I'm getting a different hotel."

That's scary to think that I slept right through it. It definitely was a creepy place.
We spent the day doing outdoor activities and filming, I spent most of the time behind the camera, I didn't really want to get in the water with all the scratches I had. But it was a TFIL video so Elton probably appreciated the extra footage. I got to use his drone too which was fun.

The sun was finally going down and it was time to check out. Me made sure we grabbed everything and got the heck out of that place. The hotel down the road was really nice, a lot less creepy than the other one. He got another suite so there were enough beds for all of us, and once again me and Colby set our stuff down next to the bed we'd be sharing.

This time Elton and Corey got a room to themselves and Sam and jake shared our room. We all got ready for bed and we all sat up talking for a bit. Sam had an idea of staying in Minnesota to do some Sam and Colby videos since I mentioned there are a lot of cool abandoned places there.

"I have to get back cause me and my girlfriend have a photo shoot to do the day after tomorrow" Jake said.

Sam looked at me. "Kara would you wanna come along and help film? It would be cool to get some different angles instead of me and Colby trying to film each other."

I nodded in excitement. "Definitely, that sounds fun."

I could see Colby smiling out of the corner of my eye but I chose not to look at him. It's going to be a lot different with just me him and Sam. I don't want to drop any hints to Sam that something is going on between me and Colby, whatever that something was. I feel like Sam would be hurt if Colby didn't tell him. Heck, maybe he already knows.
