My Melody

Chapter 30

We made our way to a place simply called Steaks. It specializes all things you guessed it,steak. Upon entry we were met with the smiling hostess. About a minute later we were seated. We were then met by a waiter soon after who took our drink order. He let us know that tonight's special menu is Asian influenced.

"What do you think Melody, Should we be adventurous tonight?"Dimitri asked. My eyes go big at the question.

"I really want to,but I don't know how he's gonna act. Let me see what they have?" I say looking at the menu. I ended up getting the Asian steak bites over white rice,and roasted peppers mild of course. Dimitri went for something he never had. He ordered Asian toasted sesame steak with sweet potato. I have to admit it looked really good. Once our entrées were delivered,we dug in.

"Oh wow I think this is my new favorite style of steak." Dimitri said putting another piece in his mouth. He then gestures for me to take a piece. At first I said no,but he insisted then I took a bite and it was good,but I liked what I got better. I shared some of my food with him. After he ate the piece he nodded in agreement. After a few minutes of eating Dimitri broke the silence.

"So Melody I hope you won't think I'm being intrusive,but I just wanted to ask you about something that has had me a bit worried." He said taking a sip of his ice tea.

"Um sure,what's up?"I asked a bit nervous about what was to come.

"We'll it's about the baby. More specifically the baby's father. Are  y'all together? Will he be present in his life? I know that we are building our relationship so I wouldn't expect to be introduced to him like my other girls boyfriends,but if he's special to you I'd like to meet him." He said smiling but looking very serious at the same time. I didn't want to lie to him. Dimitri and I have built a good relationship thus far. I clear my throat.

"Well to be honest with you. I don't think he'll be involved. I met him while on vacation this past summer and this was an accidental pregnancy,but a happy accident." I said putting my fork down awaiting his response.

"Why do you say it like that?" He asked scooping up some potato.

"He and I both liked each other, but certain circumstances occurred that didn't allow us to pursue anything further. He doesn't even know that I'm pregnant,and it's impossible to get in touch." I said feeling a bit sad.

"Really?" Not even on social media?" He asked doing the same thing.

"He doesn't have any social media. Oh and I tried to get in touch through a friend,but some thing like rebel fighting were happening where he is from,and there is some instability in the country right now. Also I believe some people died. So I wasn't able to get in touch,but I do hope he's okay." I said looking anywhere but at Dimitri.

"Gotcha,well I'm sorry if I upset you. I wasn't trying to do that,but just to get some clarification on the situation. I care and worry for you Melody." He said smiling and touching my hand.

"You must think I'm foolish for falling for someone I just met?" He looked at me and smirked.

"No not at all. You're just like me." He said and I look at him surprised.

"Well I'm guessing you fell in love a lot then. I don't need to have six extra children from three baby daddy's." I teased. Dimitri bust out laughing at that.

"Oh so you got jokes I see." He chuckles a bit more.

"I'm only kidding,and thank you Dimitri." I said. I chose not to volunteer anymore information. This is neither the time nor the place. "For what?"He asked.

"For not judging me." I said. We finished our dinner,and we had a few minutes to spare before the show. The lounge where the comedy show was five minutes away. So we just window shopped a bit. Taking in the cool night air letting our food digest. After we looked at the stores we were interested in we then made our way to the show. It was pretty packed,but mister popular got us a great table right in the front. It was an amateur show. We saw a few funny comedians,and some that needed to go back to the drawing board. But if I'm being honest I had a great time with my father.
