Chapter 20 A Hero:

September 1, 2012

 I haven’t written in this for a really long time. Probably because Shane had it and he READ it! Anyways, today was a great day! I finally taught Sabrina a lesson. She won’t go around messing with me anymore. Or maybe she’ll mess with me more to prove that Shane’s hers or something stupid like that. I think Shane’s furious with me though, that’s wonderful! Maybe he’ll stop annoying me now that all his friends know I live with him. His “rep” has gone down the drain like he says. Anyways, I should probably check and see what’s changed.

I close my diary and start to walk out.

“What the hell was all that for?!” Shane yelled when he saw me.

“What?” I asked innocently.

“Stop acting innocent! You know what I’m talking about. I knew from the moment you walked up to me during theater that something was going on in that brain of yours.” Shane said.

“Really? Then why were you going along with it?” I asked.

“I um I..,” Shane stuttered.

“You…what?”

“That doesn’t matter. You know tomorrow is going to fun. Sabrina is furious and you have no idea what she’s capable of.”

“Ehh…I guess I’ll just have to wait to find out.” I turn and leave.

I wake up the next day feeling nervous. Sabrina was known as the bitch of that school and you just don’t become a bitch all of a sudden. I quickly get dressed and grab something to eat. I walk out and see Shane waiting by his bike.

“Finally… took you long enough. Hurry up or we’re going to be late.” Shane said as he started the bike.

Why is he acting so normal? Did last night even happen? Last time I saw him he was mad.

“Look I know I’m hot. So stop staring and get on the bike. You’ll have enough time to stare at me on the way to school.” Shane said sounding impatient.

I slowly start walking over.

“Why are you acting like that?” I asked.

“Like what?”

“Why are you acting so normal? I thought I ruined your rep or something like that?”

“Well now that I think about it you helped my rep,” after looking at my confused face Shane continued.

“I’m a hero now. I helped a poor girl when she was in need. I gave her my cottage.”

“Please! You were trying to get me to leave and were successful but then you stopped me.”

“Nobody needs to know about that. Now get on I don’t want to be late.” The drive to school was silent and Shane was actually driving decently. He parked and I got off the bike.

“Thanks,” I said halfheartedly and turned to leave.

“You welcome babe.” He said as he got off and caught up to me.

“I have football practice today so I won’t be able to drop you home, I hope you can find a way back.”

“I’ve been doing that for a while, you don’t have to worry about that.” I say annoyed. Why is he acting so nice!?

He opens the door for me and I walk in to see Sabrina waiting by the wall. She starts walking over.

 “You messed with the wrong person! You started this game but I’m gonna end it.” She whispered in my ear and continued walking over to Shane.

“Oh Shane aren’t you the best. Helping an orphan girl, you gave her your cottage that’s the sweetest thing ever.” Sabrina said loudly so everyone in the hall could hear.

People started walking over and told Shane what a hero he is for helping me. I felt my eyes starting to burn and turned to walk away. I bump into someone.

“Hey! Hey what’s wrong?” I look up and see its Em.  I couldn’t trust my voice and just shook my head and pushed past her.

“El! El! Elena!” I heard Em yelling after me but I didn’t stop. I ran into the first room I saw.

I can’t believe he looks like the good guy! He tried to throw me out! He actually got my stuff and threw it out the house and he’s looking like the good guy! He looks like my hero! He saved Ms. Orphan girl from freezing and starving to death! I felt the hot tears touch my face. Why does he always look good and why am I the reason? I hate Sabrina! I should’ve known she would pull such a move. I can’t believe I’m letting her get to me.

“Elena.” I look up and see its Shane. Why is he following me!? Look busy Elena, wipe the tears. I quickly pick up a pen on the table and act like I’m writing. The pen wasn’t working so I shake it and it exploded right in Shane’s face! SHIT!

“Elena!” Shane said with ink running down the right side of his face.

“Shane, the ink, the pen, I don't know why things go wrong when you're around, maybe because you're bad luck-,” I stop.

“I’m bad luck?” Shane asked.

 I grabbed a napkin and started wiping at his face. He flinched away but then settled down. He looks a little cute like that. I start looking into his eyes, they’re the prettiest blue. Whoa, I moved back. What the hell was I thinking? Elena he’s mean and evil his eyes aren’t pretty they’re cold.

“Is it off?” he asked. Why does he always bump into me and why do I always do something?

I saw him moving closer and his arm started inching closer to mine. His hand was on mine now and was gone within seconds. He lifted the napkin I was holding to his face and started wiping. Elena you need to get away from here. I quickly walked past him with him calling after me.
