Chapter 3 Caught:

Today went by with me trying my best to avoid Shane and I think I was doing a great job at it because I hadn’t seen him yet and it’s lunchtime. I hurriedly got my lunch and headed straight for my table with my head down.

“Elena! It’s so great to see you again! I’m so sorry about your parents I recently found out,” Julie said as she saw me sit at the table.

“JJ! It’s great to see you again too and it’s okay you were in London for the summer how were you suppose to know,” I replied with a smile. Here’s a hint as to why we call her JJ, her name is Julie Johnson and doesn’t JJ sound better? I think it does. So here’s a little about JJ, she’s sweet, smart, more on the shy side in front of others but in front of us she’s as hyper as a baby monkey, she’s half British, and she’s like Em and me with dark hair and brown eyes except her eyes are a bit more grayish looking.

“How you holding up?”

“I’m great! As you can see I’m smiling and I’m happy I learned that I have to move on.”

“That’s great! Oh I heard about what…” she started but I cut her off saying, “Happened with Shane and me gosh how many people are going to tell me that!”

“Oh speaking of Shane have any of you seen him today?” I asked.

“No I don’t think he came to school today,” Austin answered.

“Phew, I was so worried as to what he was gonna do to me today.”

“Um maybe you should start worrying,” JJ said nervously.

“Why what happened?” I asked but noticed everyone was staring behind me so I turned around to see Shane making his way towards our table so my instinct was to panic.

“You said he wasn’t here! He’s coming this way guys do something! Austin you’re suppose to protect me remember.”

“Sorry Elena but I can’t help you with this anymore, plus you’re the one to talk me out of protecting you anyways remember.”

“Fine I’m out of here I’ll see you guys later, maybe,” I said as I got up and ran the other way out of the cafeteria. I heard footsteps behind me and I deep voice said, “Parker you better stop right there!” Oh great he knows my name now but him saying that obviously made me run faster but being the big football player he is, he caught up to me in no time. Next thing I know I’m slammed against the lockers with Shane’s angry face inches from mine and his arm around my waist holding me tight in place.

“Let me go!” I yelled as I pushed with all my force against his chest but he didn’t even move an inch, curse those muscular football bodies.

“You really think I wouldn’t get you back for yesterday,” he spat out.

“Yeah I did! I didn’t think that tiny brain of yours would remember!” Great going Elena! I thought as I mentally slapped myself was I trying to make him angrier or calm him down?!

“If I were you I would be acting extra nice to me right now so I let you off easily,” he said clearly angrier than before.

“Well you’re not me,” really! I need to shut up before he thinks about strangling me.

“I wouldn’t even want to be you because I’m sure you’re really scared of me right now."

“Ha what makes you think I’m scared and of you what for?” By the looks of his face I was about to get hurt so I closed my eyes ready for the pain to start somewhere.

Have you heard that phrase saved by the bell? Well it happened to me right when Shane was about to do something the bell rang and the hallways started to get crowded and I took this as the chance to escape and run to class. That was a close call just 4 more periods and I’m out of here to safety.
