Chapter 12 Dare or Dare:
Monday Morning
I really don’t want to go to school. Em is probably going to be super pissed at me for not telling her about Shane. I walk out the door and realize I have no way to go to school.
“Hi Elena,” Maria says with a smile from the patio.
“Hi Maria.”
“Are you going to school?”
“Yeah.”
“Well why don’t you wait for Shane you guys can go together,” Maria said with a smile.
Oh hell no! That’s what I wanted to say but didn’t. If I go to school with Shane then everyone is going to know that I’m staying with him and that won’t be good.
“Oh I actually have to go a bit early I have to do something at school.”
“Okay well maybe next time you guys can go together.”
“Sure,” I answered with a fake smile.
I then start walking towards the school. I walked for about 10 minutes and tried calling Em but she wouldn’t answer. Yup she was pissed. I then call Austin.
“Hello?” he answered after the 3rd ring.
“Hey could you drive me to school?” I asked.
“Why didn’t you go with Em today?”
“It’s a long story. Can or can’t you pick me up?”
“Sure, where?”
“By the cemetery.”
“Fine, I’ll be there in 5.”
“Thanks Austin you’re the best!” I then hang up the phone. About 5 minutes later I see Austin’s car pull up.
“Get in.” I get off the bench and sit in his car.
“Thanks Austin.”
“No problem now you owe me.” he says with a smile.
“Fine! I take my thanks back! What do you want?”
“No way, I’m going to wait for the right time to ask for something.”
“Whatever!”
“So what happened between you and Em?”
“I can’t really tell you,” I say not looking at him.
“Fine, but I hope you guys stop fighting soon because I’m not going to be your driver forever.”
“Me too,” I say sadly.
“Look! Because of you I’m going to be late for school!”
“What? Because of me?! No way if you didn’t drive so slow we would have been at school a long time ago.”
“Oh so it’s my fault! First I come pick you up and you’re yelling at me for driving slow! You’re so ungrateful!” We finally get to school 2 minutes before the bell was going to ring.
“Run! Or you’re going to be late,” Austin said as he got out of the car and started walking away. I open my door and slowly get out looking for Em. I close the door right when a car parks next to me and their door slams right into my butt. I turn around to see none other than Shane get out of the car.
“If you don’t know how to park a car correctly then why drive!” I start yelling.
“So I can talk to you in the morning,” he said.
