Chapter 5 Breaking the News:

Friday morning. I just have to get through today and maybe just maybe by Monday Shane will have forgotten everything. This has been going through my head the whole time I was getting dressed and now I’m at school and I’m stilling thinking about it.

“Elena quit worrying I’m sure he’s forgotten by now,” Em said clearly having read my mind.

“Yeah maybe, oh Em I have to tell you something important,” I told her as we entered the crowded hallways.

“What?”

“Well just that I’m not going to be living with you anymore.”

“What!?” she nearly yells putting her hand in front of me to stop me from walking.

“Yeah Mr. Conner found a relative. Well I don’t know if she counts as a relative, she’s my Godmother and I’m going to be staying with her now.”

“What? Why? Do you not want to stay with me anymore?” Em said sounding hurt.

“No, no! Of course I still want to stay with you but Em I can’t stay with you forever and you already knew I was going to move out sooner or later. So I guess it’s sooner. Oh but guess what.”

“What?” she said with a pout.

“She has a son that goes to this school and he’s also a senior.”

“Ohmigosh! No way! What if he’s cute! What if you guys end up together since you’re going to be staying together!” she said all in an excited blur totally forgotten about her sadness.

“Whoa calm down. I’m super curious who it is though and don’t you think that’s super awkward?”

“Yes, that is awkward but you’ll get use to it and I’m pretty sure he’ll know who you are. You’re his mother’s Goddaughter I’m sure his mother told him about that.” I hope she’s right but staying with a guy from school I just can’t think how that’ll feel I mean no privacy! The bell knocked me back to reality.

“I’ll see you at lunch, bye,” Em told me and walked away.

My first class was English so I walked into Ms. Morgan’s class and the first person I saw was Shane. This boy will not leave me alone will he? I look for an empty spot across the room from him but almost all the seats were taken except for the three desks by him; one in front, one behind him, and one next to him. You would expect a guy so popular to have people all around him but no not in this case. Note to self, start coming to class earlier. I took a deep breath and slowly walked to the desks. I voted against sitting in front of him who knows what he could do then and from sitting next to him were he could easily reach over or something so I ended up sitting behind him that seemed like the smarter option. He just smirked at me when I passed him. Oh God this is going to be a long period. The period went by with me just wonder what he would do to me. I was right behind him he could do anything but nothing, not even deadly stares. Maybe he really did forget. The bell rang I hurriedly packed my stuff and started to walk away but my book slipped from my hands when I tripped over the chair so I bent down to pick it up. As I was reaching to get it another hand came into view and picked it up for me. I looked up to see it was Shane holding my book with a smile on his face.

“You dropped this,” he said holding the book out in front of him. Really? I thought the book just wanted to hug the floor.

“Thanks,” I said a bit confused as I reached out to get it but right when I was about to grab it he moved it above his head.

“Oh no problem. Why don’t you try to get it.”

“Really! Why you acting so childish. Could you please just give me my book,” I said way to tired to be arguing with this guy.
