"Alright bub, ready to go?" Eddie asked, putting his jacket on.
"Um.. shoes." Steve said from the couch, looking down at his untied laces. Steve lacked fine-motor skills even when he wasn't regressed, so little Steve was even worse. He couldn't figure out how to tie his shoelaces for the life of him.
"Oh, alright." Eddie chuckled, kneeling down to help Steve tie his shoes. "Remind me to get you a pair of slip-ons later."

"Okay, we're good to go." Eddie said, tying the last knot. Steve jumped up and headed to the car, Eddie following behind.
"Are you excited to play at the park?" Eddie asked Steve, who was in the backseat hugging his plushie.
"Uh-huh!" Steve responded enthusiastically. He didn't get to go out to places like the park very often. Fortunately, the park was empty today so there would be no problems for them.

"I have a surprise for you." Eddie told Steve, grabbing his attention.
"Su'pise?" Steve questioned.
"Yeah! We're going to meet our friends Nancy and Robin there, too." responded Eddie.
"Robin!" Steve said, grinning widely. He was almost jumping out of his seat. Robin was also a little and Steve's best friend, in or out of littlespace. As Eddie pulled in to park, Steve had his hands on the windowsill and his face pressed against the window, looking for his friends. His eyes lit up when he spotted them sitting on the grass.

He fidgeted impatiently while Eddie got out and unbuckled him. As soon as Eddie let him out, he hopped up and ran towards them.
"Nancyyy! Robin!" he cheered, tackling them in a hug.
"Ack- good to see you too, Steve." said Nancy.
"Stevie!" Robin cheered back.
Eddie walked up from behind Steve.
"Hey Robs, and hi, Nance!" Eddie greeted them.
"Hi Eddie!" Robin exclaimed.
"Still sticking with nicknames, huh?" Nancy replied, jokingly unamused. Eddie only responded with a sheepish nod.

"Go! Go!" Steve pushed. Because he had a relatively young headspace, this was his way of saying that he wanted to play.
"You wanna play?" Robin asked, interpreting his limited speech.
"Wanna play." Steve uttered, before trying to run off.
"Whoa, slow down there, bud." Eddie stopped him. Steve stared blankly.
"Remember, don't talk to strangers, don't wander off too far, and play nice." Eddie reminded him.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of him!" Robin assured him before running off.
"It's nice of her to step up and take care of Stevie." Eddie said, striking conversation with Nancy for awhile.

Meanwhile, Steve and Robin were playing tag, by their standards anyway. Stevie didn't quite understand it, and he didn't run too well, but he chased after Robin anyways, who ran just slowly enough for him to catch her. She didn't mind losing to him, who was unaware of the advantage he'd been given. She ran around, getting caught by Steve, who was giggling uncontrollably at his triumphs.

Eventually, they ended up sitting on one of the play structures, playing some version of pattycake. Really meaning that Robin would childishly entertain Stevie by clapping her hands and such while Stevie, who also did not quite understand this game, would randomly play with her hands and laugh anyways. Robin enjoyed entertaining little Steve.
"Stevie, how old are you anyways?" Robin asked, since he was obviously younger.
"m' two. how bout' you?" he responded, still playing with her fingers.
"Oh, okay. I'm four!" she answered. "I'm like a big sister!"
"Sister!" Steve repeated, giggling.

"It's time to wrap it up, guys. We've gotta go!" Eddie said, heading over to the two. He hoped their departure would go smoothly.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't quite do so.
"stayyy!" Steve whined.
"I'm sorry, bud. It's almost dinner time and we've got to head home. You can see your friends tomorrow." Eddie tried to reason.
"Aww, please can't we stay a little longer Eddie?" Robin pleaded.
"Wanna stay! Stay here!" Steve fired, growing upset. His eyes turned glossy as they began to water. Eddie became worried. He didn't know how he would deal with a meltdown in public.
Thankfully, Nancy came in to save the day.

"How about we go over to Steve and Eddie's for dinner and a sleepover, then?" Nancy asked them, looking at Eddie and grinning. The kids looked at him with pleading eyes. He knew he couldn't say no now.
"I- well I guess it's okay." he agreed, defeated. Steve and Robin cheered. Robin grabbed his hand and lead Steve to the car.
"Did you really have to ask in front of the kids?" Eddie muttered to Nancy as they followed behind.
"Well, yeah, we should include them too, right?" she laughed.
"Yeah you're a real treat Nance." Eddie mumbled, smiling slightly. Truthfully, he enjoyed the company a little.

Eddie sat at the driver's seat and Nancy next to him. The kids already sat in the back and Robin had helped buckle in Steve.
"Robs, thanks for buckling in Stevie! You're very nice." Eddie thanked her.
"No problem!" She smiled widely. She loved being a good "big sister".
As they drove along, Robs and Stevie played in the backseat.
"Stevie, are you excited to have a sleepover?!" Robin asked.
"Yeah!" Steve nodded, still saying few-word sentences. Robin didn't mind, though.

"Me too. We can stay up all night and play!"
"Yeah!" he cheered again. Honestly, he admired Robin, so he would agree with just about anything she said.

"Ahh, I don't know about that.." Eddie interjected, as the rest of them laughed.
