"Haha, I love this scene. Y'know Spock was originally supposed to have red skin?" Dustin chuckled to himself, sparing a quick glance at Suzie and looking back at the television, then quickly jolting his head back towards her. He examined her dry expression, his brows furrowing.
"Hello? Suzy?" he asked her, dragging out the "o". Suzy jumped a little. "Huh? Oh, what? Uhh," she sputtered.
"What's going on? You've been distant all day!" Dustin exclaimed as he paused the television. "Wait, are you gonna break up with me? Suzie, I swear, I can be better-" Dustin rambled.
"No, no." she stopped him. "I'm sorry. I've just been.. occupied lately."

"Oh." he replied. "Well, what's on your mind?"
"It's, uh.. not important. You wouldn't understand." said Suzie. She reach for the remote in attempt to unpause the show, but Dustin grabbed it first. "Wait. Come on, something's got you messed up. Tell it to me! Ya know, get it off your chest!" he smiled brightly. "I don't know, Dusty-bun. It's kind of a lot, and I don't want to change the way you see me.." she said hesitantly. "It won't, I promise. I can't help you if you won't tell me!" insisted Dustin.

Suzie sighed, grabbing Dustin's arm. She led him off of the couch and up the stairs. After pushing through a few messes and fist-fights, they entered her bedroom, Suzie locking the door behind them. "Uhh, Suzie-poo? What's going on?" Dustin asked as she pushed him to sit on the bed.
"You have to promise to not tell anyone, okay?" Suzie said sternly. "My lips are sealed." Dustin replied. She sat down next to him with a sigh.
"Living with a family like mine can be.. rough. It's stressful. And I have a rather.. strange way of dealing with it."

"And what's that?" Dustin asked, intrigued. Suzie pulled a semi-large cardboard box from under her bed, resting it between them. She opened it up, revealing various children's items. Coloring books, crayons, pacifiers, sippy cups..
"So, what? You're a babysitter?" Dustin laughed half-heartedly in the tense moment. But upon further inspection of the items, he realized that some of the items were too large for a child. They couldn't have been any of the siblings'. "Whose are these?" he asked with curiosity.

"They're mine, okay? I don't know.. what it is, but when I use them, it helps me. It's almost like a different mindset, a younger one, and I don't have to worry about anything. It keeps me calm." she spoke, pretending to be interested in her bedspread as she traced patterns into it. She was afraid of how Dustin might react. "Hey," Dustin spoke softly, reaching an arm out for her shoulder, "if it helps you, I'm all for it. So you're just.. like a kid! It's no problem, you can even show me right now if ya want!" he said eagerly. Suzie visibly relaxed at his words. She felt better getting off of her chest. She was grateful that Dustin had taken this so well, but in no way would she let herself be exposed like that.

"Ohhh no. That's way too embarrassing, I-" she began.
"Aww, come on! Show me! Come on!" Dustin grinned, playfully poking her with his hands. She giggled at the ticklish feeling. "N-no! I can't!"
"Come on Suzie-poo, just do it!" he exclaimed, grabbing a soft bunny plushie from the box and shoving it within her arms. Dustin's silly teasing, the comforting plushie- it was too much, and it had sent her right into littlespace. The commotion died down as she held it to her body, looking away from Dustin. "What, did I do it?" he asked hopefully.

She nodded timidly in response. "Yes! Haha, I did it!" Dustin cheered, grinning widely. Suzie eased up at this and couldn't help but smile at his outburst. "What do you like to do, hm? Oh, we can color the pages!" he said, grabbing a coloring book, beginning to flip through the pages. "Which character do you like?" he asked, holding the book towards her. She pointed towards a page hopefully.
"Not much of a talker, eh?" Dustin said as he carefully tore out a page. She only shrugged and giggled, taking the paper from his hands. Dustin grabbed one for himself then poured out the crayons.

"Ah, well that's alright. I have enough to say for the both of us anyway. Like, did you know that coloring books were invented in the 1800s?.." Dustin rambled as he scribbled within the lines of his paper. Suzie listened intently, her lips curving into a smile. She admired Dustin. He had accepted her far better than she could've hoped for, and for that she was truly grateful. And so, the two spent the time coloring within each other's company.
