Steve stood at the door, taking his jacket off of the coat rack and putting on. He sighed quietly, preparing himself to start his shift at Scoops Ahoy. But as he reached for the door, a small voice stopped him.
"Daddy?" Eddie called out. Steve mentally facepalmed- Eddie had woken up in littlespace.
"Where you goin'?" Eddie asked around his finger in his mouth.
"I'm sorry, bud. I gotta go to work." Steve said sympathetically, coming over and moving Eddie's hand away gently. Eddie's lips formed into a small pout.
"Please stay!" Eddie pleaded.

"You know I have to go, kiddo." Steve replied with a sorry expression, resting his hand on Eddie's face. Eddie grew even sadder at this.
"And I don't think I can leave a little boy home alone. Can you become big again? Can you do that for me?" Steve asked desperately.
"M' not a little boy." Eddie retorted, but he tried nonetheless. His brows furrowed for a moment as he stared at the floor, before meeting Steve's eyes again with a desperate expression. He was stuck in littlespace, and they both knew it.

"Damn it." Steve grunted, glancing at his watch. He was going to be late.
Eddie recoiled at his sharp tone.
"No, Eds- you're fine, I just-" Steve trailed off.
"Alright, fine. You're coming to daddy's work for a little while, okay? But you better behave yourself." Steve said sternly. Eddie grinned widely, jumping up and down and cheering.
"Yay! I come with you!" Eddie exclaimed.
"Yep! But we gotta go now so we can be on time." Steve replied, grabbing Eddie's hand.

Eddie nodded sternly, letting himself be led to the car and buckled in. Eddie yawned and leaned his head against the window, staring at the passing trees. Steve turned the rear view mirror to look at Eddie in the back seat.
"Alright, Eds. We have to go over some rules first." Steve said to him. Eddie looked back at him through the mirror, nodding obediently.
"Behave, okay? You can play, but don't be too loud." Steve said.
"Okay, daddy!" Eddie replied cheerfully.
"And don't talk to strangers. If there's an emergency, you come to me. Got it?" Steve instructed. Eddie bit his bottom lip and nodded.

"And remember, try to act like a big boy. We don't want everyone to know." he added. Steve didn't intend to be a buzzkill, but he wanted to ensure Eddie's safety. Eddie, on the other hand, had zoned out awhile ago and was nodding absentmindedly.
"Right, well, we're here." Steve said, pulling the car into park and opening his door. He got out and went around to Eddie, unbuckling him. As they walked to the shop, nobody would have thought that Eddie was in any way childish. He was doing well, and frankly, Steve was impressed.

Steve sat down Eddie in the front corner of the shop, near the register so he could easily watch the boy. Though he hardly needed to; Eddie colored in a book quietly and nobody spared a glance. Thankfully, it was a pretty slow day.
"Hi, Robs." Steve said as he left the back room, brushing off his uniform.
"Hey, Stevie. You brought a boyfriend this time?" Robin teased him while eyeing Eddie, who was seemingly engrossed in his coloring book. Steve's eyes widened, and he coughed slightly.
"What? No! I-" Steve cut himself off, sighing.
"He's.. a good friend. He's just staying here for awhile." he finished.

"Well, why is your "good friend" using a kids' Spider-man coloring book?" she asked, stifling a laugh. Steve panicked again.
"Cause' he- uh, because-" he sputtered.
"Because he's little?" Robin finished for him.
Steve froze in surprise for a moment.
"How'd you know? I mean- if it were true.." he responded.
"It takes one to know one, right?" Robin winked, before making her way towards Eddie and sitting down beside him. Steve stared back in shock.

"Hey, buddy! I'm Robin. Robin Buckley. What's your name?" she asked.
Eddie looked up with unease before looking at Steve in the back. Steve nodded, giving Eddie the "ok". Eddie turned back towards Robin.
"Uh.. just Eddie." Eds replied timidly.
"Well, "just Eddie", what do we have here?" she asked playfully. Eddie giggled at her silliness.
"It's Spider-man! He's my favorite." Eddie replied, warming up to her.
"That's awesome! I like Spider-man too." Robin said.

"Your favorite?" Eddie asked curiously.
"Hmm.. I think I like Captain America. He might be even better than Spider-man." Robin grinned.
"Nuh-uh!" Eddie argued playfully. "Spidey can shoot webs!"
"Ooh, I don't know about that. Captain America's a super soldier!" Robin defended back.
"Mine has spider sense!"
"Mine has an indestructible shield!"

Steve smiled to himself, observing their engaging conversation as the sound of their laughter and chatter filled the air. It wasn't so bad bringing Eddie to his job, after all.
