Y/N POV
I sat up in my bed, rubbing my eyes as the ring of my moms old rotary phone she had gifted me for my 18th birthday rang out in my room. I groaned, grabbing the phone and laying back down in the bed.
"Hello?" I grumbled out, "Y/N, thank god you answered." Max's voice rang out. "Max, what is it? Are you ok?" I asked, sitting up in my bed. "Yea, I'm fine, I-I was just going outside for some fresh air because I couldn't sleep and I noticed Eddie sitting on his porch—he just looks so tired, and he's been doing this a lot since everything happened. But I didn't want to bother him, so I thought I'd call you."
I sighed, "I'll be right over to check on him, thanks for telling me." I swung my feet over my bed as she said a quick "You're welcome, be careful." before hanging up the phone.
I tugged on my tennis shoes, along with a jacket that was most likely Eddie's. Normally, Eddie was the first one to fall asleep, he possibly valued it more than DND, so I knew something was up. I made my way down the hallway to my brothers bedroom. "Dustin." I whisper yelled, cracking open his door, "What?" He called back, walking over to me.
"Max just called me, said it looks like Eddie can't sleep, I'm gonna go over there—I don't know if I'll be home tonight, so I need you to cover for me." I explained. He nodded, "Ok, but you have to do my chores for a month."
I rolled my eyes, "Two weeks." He groaned, "Whatever, deal, bye." He said, "Oh, and drive careful." He whispered while closing the door.
I grabbed my car keys off the hook in our kitchen before quietly making my way outside and taking off towards the trailer park.

I pulled the jacket tighter around my body as I got out of the car. Eddie wasn't outside anymore, but I was sure he was still awake based off the soft sounds of his beloved metal music I noticed coming from the house as I got closer.
I knocked on the door, looking back over at Max's trailer to see all the lights off. Suddenly, the door swung open to reveal Eddie. "Hey Eds." I smiled at him. He gave me a small smile back, his face contorting in confusion. "Hey sweetheart, I didn't know you were coming over—I would've turned some lights on."
I nodded, "Yea, it was kind of a last minute thing, are you ok?" I asked, taking in the bags under his eyes along with his slumped shoulders. He sighed, "I mean, I can't really sleep." He mumbled, scratching the back of his head.
I gave him a sad smile, "Well let's go inside—we can talk, or sleep, or watch a movie—whatever you want." He nodded his head, moving over so I could walk in the house.
I walked inside, turning to watch as he shut and locked the door before we both walked back to his room. "So—what's up?" I asked, laying down on his bed beside him and turning my face to face his.
He shook his head, "It-It's kind of stupid." He started as he turned to look up at the ceiling, "I just, every time I close my eyes I feel like I'm back in the upside down. I keep getting like these little mental pictures of everything that happened—even some things that could have happened and I don't know—it's dumb."
I grabbed his hand, holding it tightly in mine, "It's not dumb Eddie, anyone would feel the same I mean you were thrown into some pretty scary shit—really quickly. How about I stay here with you tonight." I stated looking over at him.
"No, Y/N/N your mom—she'd never let you stay." I laughed, "You're right, which is exactly why I'm doing Dustin's chores for the next two weeks." He shook his head, a grin overtaking his features.
"God I love you so much." He said, facing me, "I know." I mumbled as I leaned in to kiss him. "And I love you too." I said after pulling away before getting up and pushing him up off the bed so I could make it up a little nicer before I laid down, opening my arms for him.
He plopped down on top of me, laying his head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him, one hand moving up to play with the loose brown curls falling in front of his face as he turned it sideways. I felt him wrap his arms tightly around my waist before relaxing into me as I played with his hair, no doubt falling asleep.
But I continued laying there, twisting the loose curls around my fingers and just running them through his hair until I felt his arms loosen as he became like a deadweight on top of me. I smiled as I leaned my head down slightly to catch a glimpse of him practically passed out.
I let out a little laugh before kissing his head and laying mine back against his pillows.
