8. Clock.

Chapter 4:
Dear Billy.

"What the hell was that!?" Dustin yelled, panicking.
Steve was still holding me on the floor of mrs Kelley's office.

"I don't know." Max stated.
"I know it." I stated through hiccuped breaths, I had only just started to calm down.

"What?" Steve asked.
"Whatever was controlling us, it felt familiar." I sighed.

"Yeah it was the upside down." Max stated still panicking.
"Y/n your eyes were rolled back, both of you! It has to be the upside down." Steve yelled.

"It wasn't the upside down...believe me I know what that energy feels like, this was more like when el and I used to work together or when I could feel will, it was something, someone I knew." I explained as Steve helped me up.

"I saw a clock." Max shrugged as if to say, I don't know if that would help.

"I heard one. I didn't follow it did you?" I questioned.
"Yeah, I heard something call my name in this deep voice I guess, and then the clock in the school hallways." Max explained

"Mine was different, it was almost as if by looking at your memories and thoughts I got roped in too, whatever Vecna wants, he's strong. It was like he didn't want me in your head so he used mine against me." I added.

"Against you what do you mean?" Steve asked.
"I-I was in my head, in the void, but he was controlling it, and it wasn't until I was completely terrified I could manage to escape. He showed me things....memories. Memories I wish I could forget, all my trauma and guilt..." I stuttered, tears started to fall as I relieved the memories.

Max stepped forward and hugged me.
I was taken my surprise but embraced it.

I missed this. I missed her.

"Where'd you see the clock?" Dustin asked.
"What?"
"You said it was in the hallway, maybe it's there?" Dustin suggested.

We all exchanged looks of concern, just as Nancy and robin came speeding through the door.

"It was here. Right here." Max stated as we all pointed our flashlights at a wall. She was still shaking.

"A grandfather clock?" Nancy asked.
Max nodded.
"It's okay." I sighed as I grabbed max's hand comfortingly.

"I know it was just so-"
"Real?" I finished. "Yeah I know, mine too." I nodded sympathetically.

"And then I got closer and suddenly I just...I woke up. And I saw fee, in the corner with Steve." Max grimaced.

"It was like they were in a trance or something. Exactly what Eddie said happened to Chrissy..." Dustin added.

Tears rolled down my face and I saw the same happen to max.
We turned around.

"That's not even the bad part." She shook her head.

We were back in mrs Kelley's office.
"Fred and Chrissy they both came to Mrs Kelley for help, they both were having headaches, bad headaches that wouldn't go away and then...then the nightmares, trouble sleeping, they'd wake up in a cold sweat and then they started seeing things, bad things. From their past..." max explained.
