Izuku was now fourteen years old, after he tried to mute himself he was left with a harsh scar running across his neck, his father still cut him, beat him, burned him, Izuku was covered in scars but he didn't mind, It was proof his father still thought about him.
Izuku had a routine for his days, when he wakes up he makes food for his father leaving it on the dining table for when he wakes, Izuku would leave the house after eating himself, his father didn't let Izuku eat but he used his quirk to have his own food.
After leaving his house he would walk to the beach he had spent months cleaning, Izuku wanted to see how beautiful the beach would look after it was cleaned, just as he suspected the beach was a wonderful sight.
Izuku didn't mean to but after cleaning the beach he had gotten fitter, he had a faint six pack as well as more defined arm and leg muscles, after cleaning the beach Izuku continued to train his body, he wanted to become a hero after all.
He enjoyed his work outs, running was easy for him and lifting weights was a nice way to keep up his muscles, however Izuku's favourite thing about training was the boy he often saw doing his own training.
From what Izuku could see the boy was about his age and had a powerful quirk, the boy had spiked blonde hair with piercing red eyes, Izuku thought he was the most beautiful person he had ever seen.
Of course Izuku would never tell anyone this, he had heard his father talking about "fags" Izuku knew it was wrong to have these kinds of feelings for another boy, he knew he could never talk to the boy either, the chances of him knowing sign language was slim.
Izuku had just finished his work out and decided to head to the library when he accidentally made eye contact with the boy he had been watching for almost a year, Izuku panicked and ran as fast as he could.
He didn't stop until he made it to the library where he desperately tried to catch his breath 'Oh god he saw me! His eyes are so pretty, did he see me staring at him? Oh god what did i do? Maybe he didn't see me? Oh god what am i saying? He looked right at me'
Izuku huffed in frustration as he made it to his usual seat at the back of the library, he slumped onto the chair with a sigh unaware that someone would soon change his life, he didn't know that in only thirty minutes a man would walk into the library and change Izuku's life forever...
Hizashi Yamada also known as Present Mic frowned as he made his way to the public library, his husband had sent him out to find a textbook for their son to prepare for UA.
"Why do i have to do it? U.A isn't even for another year, how will i know which book to get? Ugghh Sho why did you make me leave?" He continued to whine as he walked down the street.
He got a few strange looks but he knew it wasn't because anyone recognised him, he was in his civilian clothing after all, he walked with a permanent pout on his face ignoring the stares as he made it to the library.
He opened the door and walked directly to the back of the building where his husband had told him to go, his frown only deepened when he saw the shelf filled with different kinds of textbooks.
"How am i going to know which one to get? I don't even know what the exam for U.A will have on it. This is why Sho should have came but no he wanted to sleep again" the hero grumbled to himself browsing through all of the textbooks.
He sighed not having a clue what he was supposed to be looking for, he felt a small tap on his arm causing him to turn around in surprise, Izuku who had heard the poor man talking to himself, stood in front of the familiar looking man with a textbook in his hands.
He raised the book for the man knowing this is the book he had been using to prepare for UA, Yamada blinked before taking the book flipping through the pages, even not knowing what would be on the entrance exam he knew this was a good book to practice with.
He looked down at the boy who looked the same age as his son and gave him a bright smile "Thanks little Listener, i would have had to sleep on the couch if i came home empty handed" the boy tilted his head at Yamada with furrowed brows.
Suddenly his eyes lit up in recognition, his hand immediately reached up to sign "I knew i recognised you, you are Present Mic right? I didn't notice because you look so different but I would recognise your voice anywhere" Izuku signed excitedly.
Yamada stared at the boy in bewilderment, most people even after he speaks with them don't recognise him in person but this boy immediately recognised his voice, he chuckled at Izuku who had flushed in embarrassment.
"I sure am kiddo but don't tell anyone, I like being able to walk around freely. Thank you for your help, are you planning to go to UA?" He asked the boy who immediately nodded his head with a bright smile.
"Yes, is the textbook for your son? I heard you talking about UA and this is the book i use for practise" Izuku signed pointing to the book Yamada now held in his hand, the mans grin faltered when the boys sleeve shifted, he saw the faint white lines on the boys wrist.
Hizashi held himself together and smiled at the young boy staring at him with excitement "Yep, my son is about the same age as you so maybe you will become friends? Hito is a little anti social though" Yamada watched as the boys mouth dropped open in shock.
Izuku soon smiled up at his favourite hero and nodded his head "I've only got one friend but i would love to have another" Izuku signed thinking about Arco who was waiting for him at home.
Yamada was a little concerned about the boy but maybe he just had a bad chapter in his life and that's why he has those scars? looking at the boy he couldn't see any obvious signs of abuse or neglect.
The boy had healthy long hair reaching his waist, Yamada noticed the boy had green tips on his hair, he couldn't quite place who but the boy reminded him of someone, he was shaken out of his thoughts when the boy lifted a notebook up to Yamada.
He took the book and the boy signed with a small blush "could you please sign it, you are my favourite hero" this wasn't the first time Hizashi was asked to sign something and he has had many fans, this was however the first time someone had called him their favourite hero.
Most people when asked who their favourite hero is answer with All-might, Yamada signed the notebook with his own cheeks tinted red, he did not expect to meet such a cute little listener on his errand.
When he have the notebook back to the boy he couldn't help the smile that pulled at his lips, the small boy was staring at the autograph as if it was the best present he had ever received "What's your name little Listener" Hizashi signed in A.S.L out of habit causing Izuku to jump in surprise.
Izuku grinned at the hero quickly putting his notebook on his table to free his hands "My name is Izuku, i am fourteen almost fifteen. It's a pleasure to meet you Present Mic" Yamada chuckled at the boys enthusiasm reaching up to ruffle the kids hair.
He didn't miss the small flinch as he reached towards Izuku, he mentally sighed, having Hitoshi had shown him exactly what to look for in an abused child, he kept his smile on his face and signed to the boy again.
"The pleasure is mine Izuku and please call me Yamada, how would you like to sit and talk with me for a while?" The boy smiled wide and nodded his head spinning around to walk back to his table, Yamada laughed at the boy but followed him.
The boy sat down in front of a book about birds, he raised his brow but sat opposite Izuku who must have seen his expression "Birds are my favourite animal, i have one at home named Arco. She is an African Lilac-breasted roller, do you want to meet her one day Yamada-san?"
Yamada had to hold in his chuckle at the boy as he nodded his head "I'd love to meet her, how long have you had her?" He asked watching Izuku as he tried to remember how long he had the bird.
"I got her when i was six, she is my best friend" Izuku signed with a smile, Yamada stared at Izuku for a moment as he took in what he had just heard the boy say, hesitantly he lifted his hands to sign.
"Is Arco the friend you mentioned earlier?" Izuku nodded his head happily, Yamada frowned 'has he ever had a real friend? A bird can't even talk to him, does that mean.. has he never had a real friends before?'
