Today was my first day of work and I woke up early just for the sole purpose of vomiting. Yup, lucky me!
As I sat in the bathroom, it suddenly hit me. I could be fucking pregnant. Why didn't I realise sooner?
Oh my gosh!
I suddenly threw up again and I felt myself start to panic. This can't be happening. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love this child but the issue is Nathan.
I don't even know if I'm pregnant yet. Ugh!
I showered and got ready for the day.
I had milk and cereal for breakfast and then I left for work. Before I arrived I bought a pregnancy test. Actually two for good measure.
"Good morning Miss Parker. Almost didn't notice you because of the hair." Mr. Hinds said.
"Good morning Mr. Hinds."
"Please call me Derek." He said and I nodded.
"You can call me Annette."
"Great! You'll be working with our head doctor. Follow me."
We went down the hall and into a room.
"This is Damien Sylvester he's the head doctor at our hospital. Damien, this is Annette Parker, she's the new doctor at our hospital."
Damien is the head doctor! What a surprise! He didn't even tell me.
"Very nice to meet you Annette." He smiled and winked.
"Nice to meet you too." I playfully rolled my eyes.
"I'll let you two get acquainted. Welcome to the hospital Annette." He smiled and left the room.
"Hi Mr. Head Doctor." I teased and he laughed.
"Come on my trainee. Let's get you settled in." He chuckled.
He showed me my desk and gave me a tour of the hospital.
"I have a minor surgery scheduled this evening." He said and I nodded.
"You'll have your list of patients sent to you by this evening."
"And I think that's everything you need to know." He said.
"Alright, thank you."
"You're welcome." He smiled.
Then I went on my lunch break. I had barbecue and a cold glass of orange juice.
Refreshing!
When I was done, I saw one patient who had a rib fracture. After treating the patient I went to assist Damien with the surgery.
It was the removal of a lipoma, a small lump of fat tissue. It didn't require anesthesia. We were done in about 15 minutes.
"That went smoothly."
"Yup and the patient was really calm. Which is a first. They usually freak out so much." I said and he chuckled.
"It's because my patients know me very well. They trust me with their lives."
"That means you're a great doctor." He smiled at my words.
After that I saw one more patient and then I went home. Tomorrow I had to work a night shift.
I made dinner and then I relaxed with a nice warm bath.
After eating, I took the pregnancy tests and anxiously waited on the results.
There it was, two lines. The lines that meant I was pregnant. Both tests were positive.
This was fine.
