"I'm just glad you're okay, Paige."

"That was scary, Annie. One minute you were there, then I was out cold. I thought I'd lost you. I'm so happy you're safe."

"You too. I'm so relieved they caught that asshole." I sighed.

"Me too, girl." We chatted on the phone for a bit, then I went to meet Alex in the kitchen. He was talking to Damien.

They stopped talking when I entered the room.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"We were discussing the events of today, but we didn't want to upset you." Alex walked over to me and kissed my forehead.

"It's fine."

"Julius isn't talking. He refuses to speak at all." Alex sighed.

"Of course, he'd do that," I muttered.

"Typical," Damien added.

"It's obvious this wasn't going to blow over this easily."

"What about the driver?"

"He says he doesn't know anything." Alex sighed.

"Figures. What's the plan then?"

"The investigation will continue, and there will be charges brought against them."

"That's good. I wish we could have found the leader behind all of this. That would be great."

"We will, Annie." He planted a firm kiss on my forehead.

Before I knew it, morning had arrived. Alex told me that he was staying at home today to ensure I was okay, but I told him I would be fine and that I was going to check on Paige.

"Annie, I'm just glad you won't have to deal with those men again. That was awful." She sighed.

"I know. I think I should be safe for now, at least."

"For now?"

"Yeah, there's someone else behind all of this."

"That's a possibility. Just please don't go anywhere alone. I'm terrified for you. I was so scared." Tears fell from her eyes, and I pulled her into a hug.

"I'm sorry. I didn't want you to experience this." I rubbed her back as she sobbed.

"Promise me that you'll always call before you sleep and as soon as you wake up. Promise that you'll check in a couple of times during the day." She pleaded, and I nodded.

"I promise."

"This thing has made me paranoid, and I can't help but worry."

"It will be okay. Don't worry, Paige." I have to be strong. Even though I was terrified and scared. I don't know what would happen next. But I have to believe that we'd all be okay.

After visiting Paige, I went to the park.

I watched the kids play. Someday that will be you, little one, I thought as I rubbed my stomach.

Suddenly, a figure approached me.

Looking up, I saw that it was Nathan. Ugh!

Phillip stepped in front of him immediately.

"Can I help you?" Phillip asked.

"Move."

"I don't think that's gonna happen here, dude."

"Get your pathetic ass out of the way. I want to speak to Annie." He barked.

"Nathan, what do you want?" I said as I stood up.

"I just want to talk." He muttered. "Please."

With a sigh, I stepped forward. "What do you want to tell me?"
