"Now that I'm here, you won't need those bodyguards." Damien said.

"Can you protect her? No you can't." Alex replied. We were sitting at the table having dinner.

These two were bickering about whether or not I should keep the bodyguards.

"Yes I can protect her. I already protected her before."

"Um no you didn't. You ran away and left the guy in there."

"She'll be fine with me. It wasn't that big of a deal."

"Okay you two. That's enough. Let's all just calm down okay?"

"Fine." Alex sighed.

"Okay."

"I'm fine with the bodyguards being here. It made me feel safe. That's not saying you can't help Damien. The more, the merrier."

"I guess you're right."

"Good. All that bickering for nothing." I rolled my eyes.

They're gonna argue about everything. I just know it.

"Ofcourse you can come Damien." I said and he smiled.

"I know it's a family gathering. I didn't want to intrude."

"You won't be intruding. I told you this already. Stop doing too much. You asked to be here." Alex added.

"Only because of Jessica. I don't mind staying at the house and quit throwing jabs at me Alex."

Here we go again.

"Boys! Grow up will you? Quit arguing before I put you both out." I snapped.

"Sorry." They said and I rolled my eyes.

The Taylor family was keeping a family gathering. All of the cousins, aunts and uncles would be flying in to be here.

Alex drove us over to Nathan's parents house. There were a lot of cars parked outside.

"Woah, this is huge." Damien commented.

"It sure is. And it gets bigger every year."

We went inside and were greeted by Nathan's parents.

"So lovely to see you Annie. You look beautiful." Candace smiled.

"Thanks, so do you." I hugged her.

"Just a heads up honey. Nathan is here." She whispered in my ear.

"I expected that." I sighed.

"I told him to leave you alone. He seems quiet tonight. He told me something happened between him and Evie."

"He was abusing her." I blurted and she gasped. Do I protect abusers? No! She deserved to know who her son is, even if it's heartbreaking.

"That's awful and disgusting. I can't believe he would do that. Nathan has become someone I don't even recognize." She sighed and I nodded.

"Is she going to press charges?" She asked.

"I'm not sure if she will. She looked scared and confused."

"I will understand if she does. Infact she should. This is not okay. Nathan has gone too far. He can't expect to just abuse a woman and act like nothing happened. I did not raise him like this. I hope she's alright."

"She just needed to get away from him." I said and she nodded.

"She is still carrying my grandbaby so she is welcome here. Nathan isn't getting out of this one so easily. I will pay for the baby's expenses. If you contact her again please let her know that. If she has nowhere to go, tell her she can stay here."
