"The Land of Hereafter is a beautiful place, won only by those who can pursue it the furthest." Yelan had liked to whisper, stroking your hair and encouraging you to nestle into her further. Drunken shouts echoed from the hidden casino downstairs, its own tucked away world filled with such raucous wonder you could hardly stay up on your feet any time you stepped inside. Despite listening to this story intently, you could never understand what it meant. What measured 'furthest'? How could you know where to start your pursuit? Yet every time you asked questions about this foriegn land, Yelan had always smiled and shook her head, eyes glittering with condescension as if you were a small fawn. "Together we will know," is all she would ever give you in reply, and out of thirst for this knowledge, you follow her on every single journey just for the sake of finally obtaining the first step. You were not a follower, nor someone who would settle down with anyone for an eternity. Yelan wasn't either. More than anything, you had wanted to leave Liyue behind and move forward with her. It's what you two had always wanted.

But Yelan didn't seem to be so sure, anymore.

"The Land of Hereafter is a beautiful place, won only by those who can pursue it the furthest." Yelan said once again, as you, once again, asked her to recall the tale. The carriage-esque vehicle you were riding in bumped over countless rocks and dips in the path, shaking and tossing the two of you around with no shame. She turned her head briefly to glare at the two men tugging it along, before, once again, resting her gaze upon you. Everything was so much of a recurrence, it caused your head to spin. Barrel-rolls, cartwheels, loop-de-loops. Yelan noticed your disturbed expression, and moved to rest her jacket on your shoulders, before planting a kiss on your forehead, as if she was a goddess bestowing miracles upon you with grace, all the while delivering a sickeningly sweet smile, raining sunshine and melting your cold, lonely, heart.
"Yelan..." you whisper. "What if... We... We... Never make it to Hereafter?"
Yelans composed grin turns into a remorseful one. "Oh... You know I hate when you worry." She wraps an arm around your shoulders and pulls you closer to her, head turning out to the dawning horizon. "Never slip into fear. Together, we're already on our way." She fell under silence, suddenly swarmed with thoughts she couldn't
possibly bear to share. You felt like a child, wrapped up in her blanket of reassurances. But, what else could you believe? Yelan loved you, and you loved her. There was no ill intent.

There couldn't be.

"My liege," whispers Xingqiu, head bowed and sword pressed firmly to his side."Please rehearse that move again." You grin, eyes softening as you raise your own sword once again. Were members of the Guhua Geeks this formal all the time? "Head up, Xingqiu. Never bow to the enemy." He looks up to you, eyes hollowed out and filled with admiration in their stead, like a jelly donut. You raise your sword above your head, Pyro vision gleaming in the setting sun. Xingqiu watches intently, almost as intently as the tall woman observing you from around the corner, eyes narrowed as she spun a small die between her middle and forefinger. You paused the move for a moment. Captivated, a fly in a trap. The strange woman delivers you an ominous grin, before turning and disappearing into the blooming mass of Liyue Harbor. You can sense Xingqiu's confusion and impatience as you continue to stare at the spot she once was. She was so... Out of place. Different. Special? You were suddenly drawn to her, with no explanation as to why. Turning back to Xingqiu, riding on the euphoria of this encounter, you force yourself to smile once again. "Alright. The move. Just watch!"
