"Hello, Ophelia," Professor Lupin greeted her as she entered his office.

Ophelia was mildly confused as to how he knew it was her when he hadn't even turned around.

"I saw you coming." He lifted up the Marauder's Map as he turned to see the confused look on her face.

"I didn't even know Harry had lost that thing," she said, laughing as she moved closer to Lupin. She couldn't help but stare at his disheveled appearance. He was cut up and looked tired.

"I've looked worse, believe me," he said with a comforting smile, seeing how worried she was about his appearance.

"Well, do you need any help?" she asked, noticing him cleaning out his office. "Why are you packing up all your things anyway?" She stopped as it dawned on her. "You've been sacked?"

"No, no, pup. I resigned, actually."

"Resigned? Why?"

"Well, it seems that somebody let slip the nature of my condition. This time tomorrow, the owls will start arriving, and parents will not want... well, someone like me teaching their children."

"But Dumbledore—I'll make him—"

"He has already risked enough on my behalf. Besides, people like me are... Well, let's just say that I'm used to it by now."

Ophelia perched herself on his desk as she looked out the window. This can't be happening again. She couldn't go through this again.

"Why do you look so miserable, Ophelia?"

"You can't leave me too. I've already said goodbye to someone yesterday. I can't say goodbye again. I just got you all, and now you're leaving me alone."

"Pup, we are family. No matter how far away we are from each other. The love we have is what will keep us connected. Same goes for your father," he said wisely, in his soft, caring voice.

"I'm just frustrated... None of it made any difference. Pettigrew escaped." She lowered her head. Remus walked toward her, lifting her head up to make sure she listened to him.

"Didn't make any difference? It made all the difference in the world. You uncovered the truth. You saved an innocent man from a terrible fate. It made a great deal of difference. If I am proud of anything, it is how much you have learned this year." He moved around his desk to grab something.

"Now, since I am no longer your teacher, I feel no guilt whatsoever about giving this back to you." He handed her the map, taking a deep breath as he took in the girl before him, memorizing every single detail about her.

"I'm afraid that now it's time for me to say goodbye, Ophelia. But I am certain we'll meet again someday. I couldn't stay away from my goddaughter too long, even if I wanted to. So until then... mischief managed." He tapped the map, making its ink disappear.
