She is not an Object

Benjamin's POV

Sita went to her room directly, luckily no one was in living room. I sat on my bed, not knowing what to do

"Hi Ben, you don't look good. Have this" Nisha gave me coffee

"I know you don't love her. Did she blackmail you? Tell me baby. Who would love third grade bitc..." I threw the cup on floor and slapped Nisha

"Those words suit you, not Sita. She is a gem. If you are at least 1% of her, I would have considered you as human. Get lost from this house before I kill you"

All my family is at my door

"Nithya, I don't want her a single minute in this home. Send her out or I'm leaving" I said in my final tone

Nithya took Nisha

Everyone were looking at me with concern

"What's bothering you Ben? This much anger?" Achchamma asked

"Nothing, that Athiraj..." I lied

"We saw the news... forget about the incident. Everyone will shut their mouth after this engagement" dad said and left

"Come for dinner" mom said

"I'm not hungry mom"

"Sita didn't come out of the room, I called her for dinner but she said she has headache. She still has jet log" Mom said

She is hurt

"Ben, did something happen? You both were happy before going out but both of you locked yourself after coming. If there is any problem talk to us" Achchamma said

I nodded no

"This Athiraj and journalists are eating my peace. I will be fine, give me some lone time. Don't disturb Sita too, she's never been in this kind of situations. She will be fine by morning. Please send food to her room with someone" I said

Mom and Achchamma left smiling

"What did you do?" Joseph asked after locking the door

I hugged him

"How bad is it" he asked

I couldn't hold myself, I broke down

He is worried seeing me

"I hurt Sita very badly, I didn't mean any of it. I don't even know why I said..."

"Calm down Ben"

Im ashamed of what I did but I told him everything...

He looked at me in disbelief

"She came to India for the first time, hearing great things about our country... all She saw was wickedness and cruelity....

Do you think she is your slave?

I can't believe you said such words.... I know your anger but there is limit for everything.

She could have easily said no for engagement this morning.... she agreed for you and you... I don't even know what to say.... I can't face her... I feel she is better off without us, probably go back to her home...

I will talk to everyone"

"No, I can't let her go... I mean not this way... "

"She deserves respect not shit..."

"I can't let her go"

"Why?"

"I want her"

"She is not an object Ben"

There was knock on the door... it's Nithya...

"Dheeraj is here..." she said

Joseph went out, I washed my face and came out

He was sitting in living room talking to achchamma and mom, dad is sitting with frown. He likes Dheeraj but he belongs to our enemy.

All the elders left after few minutes

"Can we go out, I want to talk to you" he said

"I'm in no mood" i said

"I know, that's why I want to talk"

I was confused

Three of us went to lawn

"What did you do?" He asked me

"I'm in no mood to talk to you, just tell what you have to say and leave"

"Sita called me"

Did she complain about my behavior?

"She didn't tell anything about you but I know you hurt her. She sounded very sad, wanted to talk to someone. She miss her family and friends.

I can see your regret, I'm not here to lecture you... it's waste of time, you would never change, no matter how many people you hurt.

I just wanted to say, Sita will go back to her USA after engagement.

This afternoon she said, she would stay for couple of months for your sake.

One more thing, she will marry Santhosh for her dad's happiness because she can't find any reason to say no"

She will go after this weekend? Marry Santhosh?

"Whether your ego let you accept or not, you love her... you would have done something to avoid engagement if it wasn't Sita. You are not the one to let situation dictate you.

I met her Sita twice but I know she too isn't someone who let situation dictate her life.. She likes you Ben though she doesn't realize. I'm sure she agreed to get engaged to someone she hardly knew because it's you.

Don't make her hate you before she realize her love.

You are one lucky bastard, people love you in spite of your attitude and behavior" he said

"She hates me already"

"If she hated you, she wouldn't have stayed to get engaged to you" he said 

"Sita helped you so much, the least you can do is, give her the respect she deserves. She will be here for hardly three more days, don't hurt her" he got up to go

"Sita is just 22, came to foreign country. She is alone, has no friends or family here. I hope you understand what I mean"

"Joseph, take care of Sita... I don't trust her with Ben... I wish I could take her with me" Dheeraj left
