TW: Characters that are annoying as hell; you can guess who... :))

"FASTER! HARDER! DON'T BE A P*SSY, MEN! WE NEED TO WIN!"

It was the week before the famed erging competition. And that disgusting, nose wrinkling, obnoxious voice was none other than August's yelling at his exhausted crew team.

Sweat dripped down the boy's faces as they over and over again pushed against the machine with their legs: bringing the bar to their lower ribs and slid back up to the catch.

Finally, FINALLY, August mumbled:

"Good work team. Done for the day."

Wilhelm and Simon simultaneously sighed with relief and hopped off the ergs as quickly as humanly possible.

Everyone left the gym.

Except them, of course.

Wilhelm crossed the large, sweat smelling room to stand in front of Simon.

"We. Are. Going. To. Lose," Wilhelm said, accentuating each new word.

Simon groaned loudly. "I wouldn't care if it didn't affect our grades and possibly our whole fucking lives."

"I know."

The silence that followed was not uncomfortable.

Wilhelm reached out and grabbed Simon's hand. Then: guided the other boy out of the gym, so they could walk together at a contently slow pace.

Holding hands had become so regular to Simon that not a single brain cell was screaming the word no. One could say it became a sort of custom. Their way of showing affection.

Down the narrowed hallways they went, only harmony being emitted from the pair.

It wasn't hard to find students shooting the pair jealous looks. Who wouldn't?

"I have to go to maths," Wilhelm said to Simon, stopping at a wooden, mahogany door.

He apologetically slid his hand away.

The action was well backed up in logic, but still made Simon's stomach drop.

"Yeah alright. Good luck today: Ms. Asrika plays a mean game before midterms."

"Thanks," replied Wilhelm, rolling his eyes playfully. "Bye now."

And with that, he backed into the classroom, leaving Simon only to walk to where he needed to be: choir.

But on the way, he bumped into someone.

An unwelcome someone.

Emil.

"Watch where you're-" Simon started before properly seeing the boy in front of him stood like a not at all needed roadblock. "Emil."

"Fancy seeing YOU here, Simon."

"Emil, I go to school here."

"That's not what I meant. I haven't seen your pretty face in weeks."

"Maybe for good reason?"

"Or maybe because you were too busy snogging that boyfriend of yours, huh?"

Simon's face turned a deep shade of red. The nerve of this boy! And worst of all, he was wrong.

"I don't have a boyfriend."

"Riiiiiight and you and Wilhelm have a chance of being happy together. We can all make up lies, Simon."

Simon hated the sound of his own name on Emil's lips. He HATED it. H.A.T.E.D. Time to raise his voice:

"WHY DON'T YOU EVER MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS, EMIL?!"

At this time, a decent sized crowd was starting to form around the two boys. Some people were recording in excitement. Hillerska students were always thirsty for some good old classic D R A M A.

"OOH watch that tone, Simon. The queen wouldn't be very happy if she saw you and Wilhelm flaunting around like you own this place. But she wouldn't see that... unless my tongue just happened to slip..."

Simon's blood positively boiled.

"I. would. never. date. Wilhelm. So go run your fucking big ass mouth to the Queen," he spat out.

"Certainly didn't look that way earlier today," Emil taunted.

That was the last straw. That was the FUCKING last straw.

"I WOULD NEVER EVER GET WITH SOMEONE WHO IS ASHAMED TO BE WITH ME, OKAY EMIL?! NOT SOMEONE WHO IS TOO MUCH OF A PUSSY TO SHOW ME OFF TO THE WORLD. SO FUCK THE F OFF!"

The chatter that the crowd had been continuously creating suddenly ceased.

Simon's words could be heard echoing all around the hallway.

He immediately regretted them.

But he hadn't quite realized the magnitude of the problem he just created...
