"Jacob!" My door flies open and my sister runs in. "Jake! Get up!"

I groan, rolling over and burying my head in my pillow. "Go away Nichola."

She completely ignores me, launching herself on top of me. Her knee slams into my ribs and for a few seconds I'm winded. "Wake up!" She screams in my ear, shaking me. "Get up, get up, get up!"

Despite my annoyance at being woken up so early, her persistence is amusing and I cant help but smile. What could possibly be so important? I think to myself. "Im up, I'm up." I chuckle quietly. "Now get off me you great lump."

"Finally," She huffs as though I'm the one bothering her as she climbs off of me.

I roll over and push myself up into sitting position, stretching lightly. My covers fall to cover my legs, revealing my bare chest, which my sister politely ignores. "What do you want?" I say through a yawn.

She raises her eyebrows at me and places her hands on her hips as though I've offended her. "Good morning to you too, big brother." She says sarcastically, looking like the spitting image of our mother with her stormy gray eyes and long blonde hair.

"Good morning, now what do you want?" I say, grinning.

She shakes her head, her blonde hair swaying lightly in its ponytail and her eyes serious. She looks just like mum with her studious way of dress and her perfect posture. "Theres a new family moving in a few houses down." She says calmly, focused now, though clearly very excited. "A mother and two daughters."

I shrug, hiding another yawn. "And this concerns me because..?" I ask, not seeing the big deal. "Families join the pack all the time Nichola. People need our protection."

"Yes, but the children are around our age Father said."

Hmm, I think. Thats new. Children our age aren't normally allowed to join our pack, as per our father, the Alpha's, specific orders.

Nichola must understand my train of thought because she sits on the edge of my bed, completely serious. "I think something's happening, Jacob. Something big."

I roll my eyes, throwing my covers off and standing. "Oh, not again with this Nichola."

"Don't act like that, J." She grabs my arm as I try to turn away. "Father has rules against children joining, you know that."

"Rules can change, Nichola." I shrug out of her grip.

She stares at me for a moment before standing as well. "Just come with me to welcome them. Maybe they know whats going on." She says quickly.

"No." I say, turning back to face her. "No way. I am not going along with another of your crazy schemes."

She pouts. "Why not?"

"Because they always get me in trouble with father, and I have training in an hour." I kiss her head, leading her toward my open door. "And you, dearest sister, have lessons with mum."

She turns just before I close my door and her eyes meet mine with such intensity, I wonder if she really is a Seer like our mother thinks. "You sure you dont want to come?" She says. "I think you'd have fun."

"Positive." I smile. "Now get."

Great, I think. More girls for Nichola to constantly have over to bother me with. Lucky me.

My back slams into the hard ground of the clearing and I lay still, my eyes closed, winded. "Ouch."
