Chyenne and I sit across from each other at the table, and I smile at her crookedly as my mother places breakfast in front of us.
"You two are freshly showered," Mum says, looking between us. "Usually, Jacob waits until after breakfast to wash up."
I shrug, reaching for my toast. "I needed a change."
"I bet." My mother says, knowingly as she slaps the toast out of my hand. "Did you bring the blanket back from the lake? Your father usually goes there Saturday afternoons to read, you wouldn't want him to find it and smell the two of you, would you?"
Chyenne stares at my mother, confusion mixing with the fear in her eyes. "Wait.." She says. "You knew?"
"Yes." My mother says simply, pouring herself a glass of coffee and taking a sip.
"But.." Chyenne glances at me, blushing. "Why haven't you stopped us?"
"I approve of your relationship," My mother says simply. "I just didn't want you to sleep together at night unless you'd mated. I needed the proof."
"Proof of what?" I say, my stomach growling.
"That the two of you were in love." My mother says, smiling at me as she brushes Chyenne's hair out of her face. "And now I have it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go wake up Francis and Nichola so that we may start eating."
We watch her leave and the second she starts up the stairs I start laughing.
"Why are you laughing?" Chyenne says, staring at me in shock now instead of my mother.
"Because," I chortle. "That was awkward."
"You think?" She says. "Your mother knows we mated. Aren't you just a little worried she's secretly planning our punishments?"
I laugh harder at this. "Angel, you've been in this pack for three years." I say. "Haven't you realized that the only person my mother punishes is my father?"
Chyenne cracks a smile at that but its gone in a second. "Yes, but your father punishes.."
This sobers me up for a second. "Lets not think about that yet." I say after a minute. "We don't have to tell him just yet. Let's just live in this moment."
She nods just as my father walks in with my sister, both looking extremely tired. To this moment, She whispers through our link as everyone sits down and my father begins to say grace.
To this moment.

I walk through the trees, listening for any sound that would give away where Saemus or any of the other guys are hiding. I toss my ball back and forth between my hands and pause. The wind rustles the leaves on the trees and I breathe out, seeing my breath billow out in a cloud in front of me. Its nearing the end of November, and its gotten steadily cooler outside.
I think back to the news my mother gave Nichola and I early last month.
"No fair, J. You can't use wolf speed, that's cheating!" Nichola had yelled at me when I'd beaten her in a race from the clearing to our house.
"You never said that was a rule, so that was perfectly acceptable." Id laughed back, shaking my hair out of my eyes.
Our father had walked out of the house jut as she'd pushed me. Uh oh, what'd you do this time Jacob?
