Clarkes POV

I've been running in the woods for about three minutes and still haven't lost them. "Teik her alive!" (Take her alive) I hear behind me. I quickly look back to see how far behind they were and stupidly trip over a log, dropping my gun. A large man came running at me and my instinct is to kick his feet out from beneath him. He quickly gets up grabbing my hair. I groan and spit in his face, effectively making him drop me. Kicking him in the shin I start running again, only to be stopped by another Grounder.

This Grounder swings his fist at me, which I quickly duck, but get hit in the jaw as soon as I look back up. I fall to the ground and he starts kicking me. "Nou, Heda wants her alive." (no, commander wants her alive) I hear, and the Grounder stops his assault. This other girl Grounder ties my hands together and drags me back to the camp.

As we get back to the dropship, everyone stares at me. I'm pretty sure I have a broken nose, as well as a bloody lip and nose, and at least a bruised rib because it hurts to breathe. I look over and see Octavia leaning on her brother. When she sees me, she pushes her brother away. Octavia and I are really close, and I know what she is going to go through because I felt the same thing when she went missing.

I was pushed forward towards the girl who had given the orders. I think they called her Heda. "Ai told yu ai wanted her alive en well." (I told you I wanted her alive and well." She says in her language. "em ste alive, em put up a gonplei" (she is alive, she put up a fight) the girl who tied me up responds. Their "Heda" smacks her across the face. "Do not sass me, Indra." She says and turns to walk away. All the grounders follow, as I get pushed along. Looking back I see Octavia screaming at her brother. I couldn't hear what she was saying but I was sure it was because he betrayed me and took the deal.

The Grounders kept shoving me to keep walking. They moved swiftly with each step, not making a sound. I, on the other hand, kept tripping over logs and stepping on every twig in my path. The grounders were getting annoyed and I thought that was funny so I started doing it on purpose.

After a long walk, I saw a clearing in the trees and what must have been thousands of Grounders. There were tents all around. "Put klark in the pit en teik me know when em ste odon." (put Clarke in the pit and let me know when it is done.) The leader says before walking into the largest tent. Two Grounders grab my arms and roughly push me down into a locked steel room, chaining me up and leaving the room.

"Why can't they just speak English?" I ask myself, not expecting to get an answer.

"Because not all warriors know English." I hear from behind me. I turn around to see a familiar face: Lincoln.
