I should slow down... At this rate, I'll get into an accident.
Speeding along the road, completely focused on getting home so I can comfort her. My rationality was slowly returning to me as I eased off the gas to drive more carefully.
I know she's probably terrified. I should have stayed with her today and told Kimbly just to continue shooting what they can without me....ugh, then I would have had to deal with him too. Still, I should have stayed. Why don't I think when it comes to this stuff? Why does she try to run away from me?... Running away? How'd she got out in the first place?
"Goddammit! What the hell were those two fools doing?!" I said hitting the steering wheel. "I hope she's not hurt... Or so help me God, I'll kill them."
Right now I was feeling a mixture of relief and anger. I was happy she was awake and responsive but at the same time pissed that she got out of their sight, let alone the house. I let out a long sigh and used one hand to loosen my tie.
This is a little frustrating, not only do I have to deal with Bunny, but now I have to deal with those two jackasses of mine. I didn't punish Bo yet because I wanted to be lenient with him, and maybe give him something stupid to do, like gardening, since he hates dirt... but now...they'll both get something serious. Those two have always worked great together in the field, but outside of work, they've always behaved like two unsupervised children sharing a single brain cell..... After a few years, you'd think they'd grow up.
My phone started ringing again and my heart started beating faster. Reaching in the cupholder I picked up the phone and swiped to answer the call without looking at the phone.
"Hello," I said as I put it to my ear.
"Hey, you left without saying anything, what's up?" The voice at the end of the call said. It was not who I was expecting, but I had already answered it anyway.
"Melody, hey....um... I'm actually not feeling well and told Kimbly I was leaving."
"Really? What's wrong?" She said with concern.
"I was feeling nauseous and wanted to throw up." I lied.
"Oh, my God. Think it could have been something you ate?"
"I-I'm not sure."
"Do you need anything? Maybe I can bring something to the hotel for you."
"No, no it's okay... maybe I just need to rest," I told her.
"Okay umm, well please get some rest and I'll see you on set tomorrow. Hopefully, you feel better and can attend the dinner party my dad's hosting too. He's looking forward to seeing you." She said in a soft tone.
"Yeah. I hope so too...and thanks."
"Alright, I'll check in on you later. Rest up."
"Okay. Bye." I hung up and dropped the phone on my lap.
Mr. Lawrence is supposed to be holding a dinner party with a few other celebrities and had invited me to attend. To be honest I don't really want to go but I will regardless of my feelings. I had ditched everyone at the staff party and had been blowing off other people's attempts to hang out. So this time I decided I'll show my face and be a good sport. It's in a few days so I believe I can get things settled by then.
"I need to hurry," I said and dipped my foot in the tank yet again.
As I approached the gates and drove into the yard my heart rate accelerated. I quickly parked and grabbed my keys and phone and ran inside the house. I could hear the cries along with the sound of objects clattering across the floor before I reached the staircase.
