"Wake up!" Mackenzie heard someone exclaim, she was sleeping heavily moments earlier, but the voice now woke her up,

"Five more minutes," she mumbled into her pillow,

"You said that three hours ago!" The voice replied,

"What time is it?"

"Eleven!" Mackenzie slowly rose from the bed to find herself glaring at Amy.

"You're waking me up at eleven?" Mackenzie frowned, hadn't she just gone to be then?

"In the afternoon! Can't you see the light?"

"Oh, bloody hell!" Mackenzie yelled and scrambled out of her bed; she was still trying to adjust to the time zones.

"It's Saturday in case you were wondering, so no classes were missed, but lunch will be soon." Amy said and walked out of the room, leaving Mackenzie to change.

"Pass me the soup," Amy nudged Ernie, a Hufflepuff boy in their year. Ernie passed it to Amy with a big smile on his face.

"How is everyone enjoying Hogwarts?" Cedric Diggory, one of the older students asked the first years; he was a kind boy,

"It's awesome," Ernie replied

"It's so great," Amy said

"It's amazing!" Mackenzie exclaimed

"Are any of you thinking of trying out to be on the Quidditch team when you're older?" Cedric asked,

Zacharias Smith, another first year answered immediately, "I will definitely be on the team."

"You need to try out first," Amy reminded him, "and, no, I will not be trying out for the team. I prefer sports where I can remain on the ground."

"I don't think I will," Ernie answered, "Mackenzie?"

"No, I'm way too lazy to play any sport." Mackenzie joked. Everyone laughed, Cedric smiled and turned his eyes to the door as someone walked through them and headed for their table. Mackenzie turned her head and saw Laura walking up to them.

"Draco's being really annoying, I had to walk off before I pushed him off of the bridge," Laura said once she got to their table,

"Is that the blonde Slytherin boy?" Cedric asked Laura, she nodded and slid onto the bench across from him,

"He's talking crap about some of the teachers." She told him.

"Well, let's just see if that boy can take what he gives." Mackenzie said. Everyone stared at her confused; she motioned her head towards the door where Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle had just walked in from. She walked up to him.

"Malfoy, I think that you discriminate and bully others too much. You are a spoilt little brat, and I think you should stop being such a baby." Mackenzie said with anger evident in her voice. She left the hall before seeing his reaction.

Mackenzie sat in the Hufflepuff common room with Amy and Hannah Abbot. They were practicing for transfiguration. Hannah and Amy were really great at Transfiguration, and Mackenzie was doing just as well as them. The room soon emptied as lots of people went to bed, leaving only them in the room.

"So, I know we're young, but do you like any of these Hogwarts guys?" Hannah asked. Mackenzie glanced over at Amy who was blushing. Mackenzie raised her eyebrows.

"Amy," Mackenzie said in surprise, she thought that Amy would be the last person to be thinking about boys,

"He's a Hufflepuff," Amy said as she blushed harder,

"First year?" Hannah asked,

"Yes." Amy said nervously, Mackenzie got excited,

"Who?" she asked. She was very excitable when it came to love and crushes, and knowing Amy had a crush on someone was really great.

"I'm not saying." Amy said firmly, the others knew not to push it.

"Fine, Kenze?" Hannah turned her attention to Mackenzie

"Huh?" Mackenzie replied, she was still thinking about who Amy could like,

"Who do you like?" Hannah asked, Mackenzie pursed her lips,

"I'm not saying," She replied. Hannah groaned,

"What house is he in?" Amy asked, Mackenzie thought about her answer. She could say what house he was in, that wouldn't give anything away.

"Gryffindor," She answered,

"Our year?" Hannah asked, Mackenzie nodded, and knew her mistake when Amy and Hannah exchanged glances.

"Harry, Dean, Neville, Seamus, or Ron? Who it is?" Amy spurted out. Mackenzie shook her head; she didn't want to answer that.

"Please." Hannah begged. Mackenzie glanced between Amy and Hannah and sighed,

"I think that it's time for us to go to bed." She said. Despite wanting to know more, Hannah and Amy followed Mackenzie up the stairs and into their dorm.

Before she went to bed, Mackenzie quickly scrawled something on a piece of parchment:

Reminder to self: when you wake up and go down to breakfast Hannah will probably bug you about who you like. Don't answer unless you're comfortable with her knowing.

And what she wrote was right, because when she went to the great hall Hannah did bug her (and so did Draco and the Slytherin's thanks to her telling Draco what she thinks), but Mackenzie didn't tell her who she liked. There were some things you keep to yourself until you're ready to tell people.
