An envelope with yellowish parchment, addressed in green ink was lying in the middle of Mackenzie's table when she got home from her friend's house; she picked the letter up and turned it over to see the Hogwarts seal.
"Mum, is this my book list for school?" she asked her Mum who was sitting on the couch watching television in the conjoining lounge room,
"Yes it is, and sweetheart, keep your voice down I'm not feeling well," her mum replied, Mackenzie sat beside her on the couch,
"Are you craving anything? Do you want me to make you some cookies?" Mackenzie said in her usual fast paced manner,
"No, Mackenzie, but I'd appreciate if you would stop being so loud!" her mum exclaimed,
"Sorry," Mackenzie smiled at her mum; she just lightly tapped her nose,
"I need to talk to you. Your father and I have been thinking of sending you to Beauxbatons. You were accepted into Beauxbatons and Hogwarts when you were born and we chose Hogwarts because we wanted you to go to a co-ed school so you can meet a nice boy when you are older. Your sister goes to Beauxbatons, I went there, and it's a lovely school. It will be so much easier for me having you in the same country as me, it's hard being pregnant and emotional when two of your kids are in other countries and all three of your currently born children go to boarding school. I know it's a lot - asking you to leave Hogwarts behind- but it's what will be better for us all," She talked on and on about the benefits of Mackenzie going to Beauxbatons, but of course Mackenzie's reply was,
                              "Hogwarts is a second home; my friends are like a second family. You want me to leave my second home and my second family because you are emotional? You have Dad; I'm not giving up Hogwarts. I know it is hard with Hayden and I in different countries to you -and different countries to each other- and with Georgia at boarding school, but you have Dad, he works from home. I am going to Hogwarts, and you can't stop me! I'm getting on a plane and I'm going to Diagon Alley to get my school stuff, whether you like it or not!" Mackenzie ran through the kitchen and down the hall, she opened her bedroom door, slammed it hard and sat at her desk with her book list scrunched in her hand. She flattened it out and opened it up;
                              Second year students will require:
The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2 by Miranda Goshawk
Break with a Banshee, by Gilderoy Lockhart
Gadding with Ghouls, by Gilderoy Lockhart
Holidays with Hags, by Gilderoy Lockhart
Travels with Trolls, by Gilderoy Lockhart
Voyages with Vampires, by Gilderoy Lockhart
Wanderings with Werewolves, by Gilderoy Lockhart
Year with the Yeti, by Gilderoy Lockhart
There were a lot of Gilderoy Lockhart books, his name sounded really familiar to Mackenzie. She opened her door and went into Georgia's room which was directly in front of hers. She searched her book shelf until she found what she was looking for "Year with the Yeti" was sitting on the top shelf; she had to buy one less book then.
"Hi, Georgia!" her dad greeted as he walked past Georgia's room, "Oh, hi Kenze," he greeted as he did a double take,
"I got my booklist today," she said holding up the book from Georgia's shelf,
                              "From Hogwarts?"
                              "Yes," she answered bitterly,
"I'm guessing your mother told you about what she wanted,"
