𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟

Chapter 23.

He sighed, looking over at me before leaning his forehead against the steering wheel.

"I dont even know." I patted his back.

"I kinda like her? But well, she hates me somewhat, and I don't know why and I can't seem to change that." I rubbed his back a bit in a comforting way.

"Don't worry, either it will work out somewhat or you two are not meant to be." I said and he looked over at me, nodding before sitting straight up and starting the car, driving the two of us home.

He told me a bit about Mei and how the two of them met.

Basically she started working for Ryder 4 years ago and worked herself up. At the very beginning, Alejandro already thought that she's attractive and wanted to date her, but she always rejected her.

Sometime she somewhat found out about the mafia, and now she's also part of the mafia, and the CFO. Ryder sees her like a little sister, and Alejandro... well yeah.

He just walked inside with me and I yawned before turning to him.

"Are you staying here now or are you leaving again?" I asked and he looked at his phone before looking at me again.

"I need to leave now again, but don't worry, there are guards all over the property to make sure no one is able to enter the property." He smiled and I nodded before waving at him as he waved back and then left the house again.

I walked into the kitchen, and after a short time I found some ramon cup, which I immediately made for myself since I was pretty hungry and at the same time too tires to make anything special.

After I had finished the ramen cup, I made my way upstairs into Ryder's room. I took a quick shower and washed my hair, to get the gel out, before making myself ready for bed.

I threw myself on the bed while wearing a shirt of his, my hair still a bit wet as I turned the tv on, continuing to watch the show I started this morning as I wanted to wait for Ryder to get home.

After a lot of episodes of the show, I looked at my phone and saw that it was 1:01am. Since I was really tired and had to work tomorrow, I decided to turn the tv off and go to sleep. And after a short time, I drifted off to sleep.

2 hours later:

I got waken up by something moving on the bed, but I kept my eyes closed because I could smell that it was just Ryder who laid down next to me.

I could feel his arm wrapping around my waist, as he carefully pulled me against his body. I could then feel him pressing a soft kiss onto my head before he started to whisper softly.

"I am sorry for being out too long cariño, I hope you didn't wait for me too long and went to sleep early. I am so thankful to have you, and I really want a future with you. Continue to sleep tight, hermosa." It was obviously that he thought I was still asleep, so I supressed the huge smile from forming on my face as I could feel butterflies going crazy in my stomach.

Next morning:

I woke up, yawning as I saw Ryder still sleeping next to me. I admired his face for a moment, before noticing the big bags under his eyes.

Poor baby has to work so much.

I leaned up and started to place soft kisses all over his face, smiling softly while doing so.

"Wake up querido, the two of us have work." By the way of how he pressed his face into the crook of my neck and pulled my body against his, I could tell that he didn't wanna get up at all.

I guess that 5 more minutes are okay.

I ran my finger through his hair, hearing him letting out an satisfied sigh. Over the last nights we had spent together sharing a room, I found our that he really enjoyed it when I somehow touched his head, it relaxed him somehow.

"Come on now baby, we need to eat breakfast and then get ready." I said and he unwillingly pulled his head out of the crook of my neck while looking at me with a small pout.

"Cuddling with you is so much better though." I giggled a bit at that before pressing a soft kiss onto his lips.

"Oh believe me I know that."

After a bit of fighting against his grip, I managed to get out of bed, and after just a few moments he followed. We walked downstairs and prepared breakfast for everyone, and as we finished, Alejandro was still not downstairs.

"Where is your brother?" I asked, looking up at Ryder as he just shrugged.

"Alejandro!" I yelled before Ryder and I sat down, but Alejandro still didn't come downstairs.

"Just eat cariño, he will come down eventually." I nodded and the two of us finished our breakfast, and Alejandro still didn't come downstairs.

We cleaned off the table before walking upstairs, and I quickly grabbed my clothes and got ready in the bathroom.

As we both were finished, we stopped in front of Alejandro's room, knocking on the door. Ryder then opened the door and looked inside.

"Seems like he went out earlier." Ryder said and shrugged, before grabbing my hand and walking downstairs with me.

The two of us made our way to his car before driving to work. The drive was filled with the two of us talking about our schedule for the day.

Lunch break:

Ryder had just told me to go eat some lunch, and that he couldn't come with me because he was too busy.

Just as I walked out of his office, I met Mei. I smiled at her and she smiled back when she saw me, walking over to me.

"Hello Ms. Smith." She smiled and me and I chuckled a bit.

"You can call me Victoria." I smiled and she then chuckled.

"Good then, you may call me Mei. You have lunch break?" She asked me and I nodded.

"Me too. Would you like to go eat with me? You know, we could get to know each other a bit." She gave me a kind smile and I nodded while smiling back.

The two of us made our way to an asian restaurant while having small talk, and I could already tell that the two of us will get along just well.

We sat down at a table and ordered before starting to talk again.

"So how old are you Victoria?" She smiled at me while leaning her chin against her hand.

"I'm 24 but my birthday is coming up soon, what about you?"

"I turned 26 not that long ago." She smiled and I smiled back.

"Were you serious about Ryder talking about me a lot?" I asked curiously. She chuckled softly at that while nodding.

"I dont know if you know that, but Ryder and I are pretty good friends and we often eat together in lunch break. And since 2 weeks he wouldn't stop talking about you." She chuckled, making me blush as I looked away, making her laugh softly.

"You really are just like he told me, I am happy for the two of you. In the 4 years I've known him he never was this happy." She smiled softly at me and my blush got harder as I looked at her, also smiling.

I also never felt this happy in my life.
